VIOLENT LEFT-WING PROTESTERS TERRIFIED OF FREE SPEECH #UCBerkeley #Berkeley #Milo #MiloYiannopoulos #miloatcal pic.twitter.com/3E4D8nhsiv— The Patriarch Tree (@PatriarchTree) February 2, 2017
Berkeley has gone from the Free Speech Movement of the 1960s to the No Speech Zone of the 21st century.
The Democratic Party controls the state of California.
Unless Governor Jerry Brown cracks down on this fascism, I can only assume it is now Democratic Party policy to shout down any and all opposition.
So far, colleges have canceled Milo repeatedly rather than let him speak.
Speaking of opposition, when is the press (which fancies itself in the Trump era as an opposition party) going to climb down from its high horse and push California and college campuses across the country to expel students and fire staff members (including administrative staff) who participate in such brown-shirting?
Standing up for your free speech or the First Amendment rights of those you agree with does not impress me.
Standing up for the right of someone else to call you a son of a bitch (or worse) does.
There are many reasons Most Americans distrust the news media. One of them is its cowardice in standing up to militant lefties, particularly minorities.
The press has no problem castigating conservative white males, which is fine with us. A little self-defeating as we are (or were) the most likely newspaper subscribers and consumers of TV news.
But calling out lefties is a no-no. Too many people of color. Don't want to offend people.
So reporters ignore the fires and call the riot a "protest." Reporters look the other way when people burn a flag or punch a conservative.
But this is not about race or sex or who you screw.
This is about being an American.
The left loves to lecture us that "This Is Not What America Is."
And then they proceed to resort to violence to intimidate. Why not? Governor Brown and college presidents across the land coddle the rioters.
The ACLU once stood up for allowing a few ineffectual Neo Nazis to march in Skokie, Illinois, even though it was home to many Holocaust survivors.
I have not heard the ACLU stand up for Milo.
So we know who the ACLU stands for.
What does the media stand for?
Does the Washington Post stand with free speech and Milo? Or does it side with the fascists at Berkeley?
Does the New York Times stand with free speech and Milo? Or does it side with the fascists at Berkeley?
Does the Wall Street Journal stand with free speech and Milo? Or does it side with the fascists at Berkeley?
We know the answer.
We have heard their silence.
It deafens.
It cancels their Fourth Estate privilege.
Someday the media and the Establishment will hear from conservatives again. November 8 was not our final victory.

Please read "Trump the Press," in which I skewer media experts who wrongly predicted Trump would lose the Republican nomination. "Trump the Press" is available as a paperback, and on Kindle.
It covers the nomination process only. The general election is covered in a sequel, "Trump the Establishment," which will be published in paperback on Tuesday.
For autographed copies of either book, email me at DonSurber@GMail.com

The left H8s the First Amendment, and anyone other than themselves who wants to speak freely. They H8 dissent, unless it's theirs. They just hate.
ReplyDeleteKnowing Milo's sense of humor, I fully expect to see his blog article a few hours from now entitled: "Berkeley Audience With Me All The Way (Managed to shake 'em off at the airport)."
ReplyDeleteGood one, Dave! I've already preordered his book. Between Trump The Establishment and Dangerous, I expect to have many enjoyable reading hours coming up here!
DeleteAnd - of course - the cal US "The Haters".
ReplyDeleteWhich is demonstrably untrue.
Was just watching this on FOX during T. Carlson show. Just where the hell were the firemen? I bet that what was burning was a hotdog cart, owned by some poor immigrant (legal or not) and now his livelihood is gone. My mind just has a hard time getting around what is happening now, and I grad. from college in '68.
ReplyDeleteIt was a portable lighting rig. Most likely with a gasoline powered generator built-in as I have used at construction projects.
DeleteWait till the federal DoE and the DoJ start asking embarrasing questions of Berkeley regarding violations of the civil rights of the students who invited Milo as a speaker. The U of C professors have a nice little business going there with all those lucrative federal grants. It would be a shame if the DoJ and DoE had to bar the university from receiving federal money because of this problem. I'm betting the Death Penalty wielded by the Obama administration in its overreach on Title IX issues also applies when it comes to the abridgment of the civil rights of students.
ReplyDeleteI am a conservative Christian. I know what the Bible says about homosexuality. But I also know that all have sinned...
ReplyDeleteMy prayer tonight is for the parents of those Millenials who shut Milo down.
God can change minds, and God can change hearts. Let His will be done.
BTW, I like Milo's work.
Eventually the left is going to force their opposition into the very kind of actions that they say they are afraid of. This may be by design, but if it is they are making a grave error. If it is by design they think that somehow they are going to come out on top. They have done nothing to convince people that they would have been better off if the last election had gone the other way. So far all they have convinced anyone of is that the oppression they are undertaking now would have been quieter, but worse.
ReplyDeleteThe most ominous sign the left should be concerned about is that Trump is saying nothing about these things.

ReplyDeleteAnd what happened at Berkeley last night was not a bug or aberration. It is a salient feature of the Democrat Party. Watch for more of the same. - Elric
Perhaps we should start calling these rioters the Sorosshirts. Does anyone have a more appropriate name for them?
ReplyDeleteActually, Neo-Nazis is most appropriate. George Soros collaborated with the Nazis. - Elric
DeleteI'm so old, I can remember when rioters and looters were told they will be shot on sight. I suggest renewal of that policy -- announce:
ReplyDeleteRioters & Looters will be shot on sight. To start with, rubber bullets will be used. If the disturbances do not stop, regular bullets will be used instead. The switch will not be announced beforehand.
I believe that shoot on sight is still the policy of the U.S. Army. And shoot to kill. - Elric
DeleteNo so much in recent years. Amber status, not locked an loaded, is not unusual for sentries and some patrols in the past per journalist Michael Yon. I asked O'Reilly to ask about that when he interviews President Trump at the Super Bowl half time. I'm a vet with one son and a grandson in the Army, so I have a personal interest beyond the risks to our military. The killing of the 243 Marines in Lebanon during Reagan's Admin was in part caused by this ROE.

ReplyDeleteI expect this last election was the beginning. Those that were on the fence will now be all in. The tide has turned.
They told me that if Trump was elected homosexuals would be attacked in public and they were right.
