"As ski season gets shorter, resorts build summer attractions..."

From Grist magazine on Monday:
Looming over the shoulder of many ski areas, particularly those in the Sierra Nevada and at lower elevations elsewhere, is the specter of a changing climate. Summer attractions may help resorts offset losses incurred as warmer temperatures nibble away at the ski season. “Climate change makes it all the more imperative,” says De Jong.
Wonder how many feet of snow are on the waterslide right now.

  1. We are only just 3 weeks into winter. Give the warming a chance!!! For liberals, one weekend of above average will be all the proof they need. Then they can go bankrupt with their summer plan.

  2. I wonder if any of this might end up refilling Lake Mead. It's only at 37% right now.

  3. Given the heavy snow report, at first I took the headline to mean the water skiing season was growing shorter. And so it shall be. The grumpy old man says, Get off my lake!

  6. Summer attractions, such as golf courses, allow the resort to monetize property that wouldn't be used in the off-season - like northern Michigan ski and golf resorts have been doing for decades.

  8. 20 years ago we were told that the ski industries in Colorado and around the world were doomed, everything was melting, only the highest elevation areas might be able to eke out a few weeks with the remaining few flakes. the fact that these morons get it wrong over, and over, and over slows them down not in the least. Facts be damned, steamrollered by their Algore and obozo ideology. Science!
