The FBI demolished every Clinton excuse and blew apart every Clinton lie, but soon she might well walk into rooms serenaded to the sweet sounds of “Hail to the Chief.” To paraphrase the words of Benjamin Franklin, we've got a banana republic, if Hillary can keep it.Gee, National Review, if only there were some way we could stop her.
Well, I am not the National Review, and I did not paint myself in a self-righteous and sanctimonious corner last January. I shifted my support from Scott Walker to Carly Fiorina top Trump. It's that simple. The party rank-and-file have spoken.
And James Comey's refusal to do his job did not anger me. I merely moved up the date to get even. Instead of voting on November 8. I will vote on October 26 when early voting begins in my state.
Of course, one size does not fit all. Mark Krikorian of the National Review wrote:
Many of us here at NR think Trump’s election would also be a threat to the Republic, and I can’t disagree. But one of these two is going to be elected president. So the question is, whose election is more dangerous? Not more dangerous in their character or likely actions, since it might be hard to choose between Hillary’s malevolence and venality versus Trump’s frivolity and Caesarism. Rather, the issue in November is whose election would do more to undermine the political legitimacy of our current form of government?
Whose election would cause more people to reconsider the authority of the law and the routine compliance with the rules that underlies political stability? Before today’s reverse-Watergate, it might have been plausible to judge this as a tie. Not anymore. Punishing Hillary through electoral defeat is a necessary act of civic hygiene if the rule of law is to have any chance of persisting, even in its current attenuated form.We are not alone.
From Bruce Kesler:
Donald Trump is far from the perfect leader. But, then it takes someone with gumption and determination who will not be intimidated to take on the rot that permeates our government and self-appointed ruling class. And, Trump is the only revolution we have available.
Anyone deserves the end of our once-renowned Republic who stays home or turns coat or otherwise fails to stand up for recovering an America with basic laws and justice, an America which is not beholden to those who would exploit the government for self-aggrandizement or profits, an America with justice for all which does not favor the wealthy or powerful sycophants of state power.
Donald Trump is not George Washington. But he’s the only revolution we have, and very probably our last chance. I have faith in the American people who will bring us back from tottering over the brink of ruination to make it work when Trump is elected. This will not be easy. Fred Barnes thinks the refusal to indict hurt Trump:
The FBI director's decision not to recommend prosecution of Hillary Clinton for mishandling highly classified information is a bump in the road for Donald Trump's campaign against her—a pretty big bump. It may halt Trump's gradual narrowing of her lead in the general election race, at least for the time being.
Clinton and Democrats can live comfortably with the critical words of James Comey, the FBI chief, aimed at Clinton for the reckless way she treated national security information on her private email server. She and her aides were "extremely careless in their handling very sensitive, highly classified information," he said. Clinton should have known an unclassified system was no place to discuss "Top Secret/Special Access" information. Yet that's just what she did, Comey added. But his words alone won't sting her.Barnes may be on tio something. Most people likely see it as just a harmless email problem.
The press has tarred Trump as a racist. Scott Adams of Dilbert fame wrote:
Trump needs to reframe this situation in August to win, because otherwise crooked will beat racist.Remember, vote for the crook, it's that important?
This is how crony capitalism works. They own the press and now the Internet. Readers need to suck it up. Hillary is worse. A lot worse. When they dump on Trump, just remember four dead in Benghazi, Whitewater, Paula Jones, Juanita Broaddrick, White House furniture, and of course, emailing secrets to the enemy.
You cannot crybaby about this. You can no longer pretend that four years of Hillary are a small price to pay for "saving" the Republican Party.
There is GOOD in the world and there is EVIL.
This is the simplest election ever. Either you are for the Constitution, or you are for Hillary.

My new book on how the media blew the Republican nomination, "Trump the Press," is now on sale.
Please purchase "Trump the Press" through Create Space, as I get a larger royalty. It is a subsidiary of Amazon.
The book also is on Amazon.
Regardless of how you purchase this must reading for Trump supporters and media critics alike. Please post a book review on the Amazon site. That helps attract other readers.
I disagree they own the Internet, else Trump wouldn't have won, but the weak-kneed (and Freddy Barnes was as weak-kneed a replacement for Pat Buchanan as you could find) are certainly afraid their little party may be spoiled by the people.
ReplyDelete"Either you are for the Constitution, or you are for Hillary."
ReplyDeleteGood one Don. Trump has trashed the First, Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments (and probably more); due process; equal protection all while praising Putin, Kim Jong-un and just yesterday, Sadam Hussein. Yep, that Donald is just a distant twin to our Founding Fathers.
Trump hasn't done anything to any of those Amendments; the Democrats have.

Honestly, Trump is only saying out loud what State Dept pukes say in private every day of the week. They have been rogue since forever. Maybe Trump's speaking to their DC demographic, but I know for a fact that elitist publications were moaning about the deposing of Saddam because at least he was able to keep order amongst the warring tribal factions. He kept order by woodchipper, but really, they sniffed, isn't stability a better end?
DeleteOK Mikey, what have Dems done to the Constitution? This ought to be real interesting.
DeleteTrump has never "praised" Putin or Saddam, except in a realpolitik sense.
DeleteHe's never praised Kim Jong-un at all.
Anonymous is miscasting DS's argument. The argument is not that Trump is a constitutional scholar. The argument is that voting for him is the only way of holding the Clintons (somewhat) accountable.

Please explain how a private citizen effects the Constitution, removing protections from other private citizens.

Very funny responses here.
DeleteMikey - waiting for you to explain how Democrats have changed the Constitution. I never said Trump has "effected" (should be affected) the Constitution as a private citizen. I said he has spoke ill about certain elements and I find that dangerous coming from a presidential candidate.
Mark: WTH does "never 'praised' ... except in a realpolitik sense" mean? What an absurd quote.
Trump on Jong un: “You’ve got to give him credit. How many young guys — he was like 26 or 25 when his father died — take over these tough generals, and all of a sudden — you know, it’s pretty amazing when you think of it. ... He goes in, he takes over, he’s the boss. It’s incredible.”
Trump on Putin: it is a "great honor to be so nicely complimented by a man so highly respected within his own country and beyond.”
Kind of scary that Trump admires dictators but I have never heard him speak fondly of a past U.S. who is worth emulating.
"a past U.S. president who is worth emulating."
DeleteAnon 10:42A.M.: History teaches that when a totalitarian regime finally gets in power the first people it destroys are people like you. Why? Because you actually expect to be rewarded for your support and your usefulness to the regime has ended. The useful fools like you tend to cause too many problems so they get rid of you before you do.
DeleteIf I vote for a crook, I am not necessarily painted with the crook paintbrush. Politicians are allowed to be crooks, they ALL are. What they are not allowed to be is racist, and anyone who votes for a perceived racist will also be tarred as one. That is why this will be the quietest, shyest election landslide in history if Trump doesn't just keep shitting his own bed.

DeleteBless you for this!
ReplyDeleteThe Left could nix the Trump phenomenon overnight if they could just get the political and media establishments to all stop sneering at ordinary Americans and their views and concerns for a few months.
ReplyDeleteBut that's Twlight Zone territory.
One thing to consider: Hillary is not indicted, or accused of a crime. Can The Won issue a last-minute parting-shot (at America) pardon for Hillary if she's NOT indicted or accused?
ReplyDelete"Here's a Dispensation-in-Advance, Hillary. Good for the next eight years. Knock yaself out."
DeleteI'm still waiting for Nonnyass to explain in plain English how Trump has done what he says he has done. The witless jerk makes all kinds of implications without any specifics. Engaging in worse rhetoric than he accuses others of.
ReplyDeletePlease, pray tell us oh great Nonnyass in rational dispassionate terms the sins of Trump. Enlighten us.
Nonnyass is a seagulls. He flies in, drops his load of crap and flies away.
