Consider its "The Daily 202" feature, named for DC's area code. Daily 404 is more like it. Oh and by daily, they mean Mondays through Fridays, except for holidays.

Nine headlines. Seven have Trump's name in them. Nine photos. Trump is in seven of them. Nine stories. Eight are about Trump.
The daily, relentless attacks on Trump have an interesting effect. Meant to set the agenda and discredit him, the stories make Trump the focus of the campaign. This works on the minds of the punditry in Washington who think income tax returns matter (they don't; we know he's rich and doesn't like to pay taxes).
But there is a bigger arc at work here.
Every day the Washington Post's "Daily 202" feeds a Trump story to its readers. And that is exactly what Trump wants. Attention. Negative or positive, that is what any newcomer wants. Trump like any politician knows that if the election is about him, he wins. The 2008 election was a referendum on Obama. The 1992 election was a referendum on Clinton. The 1980 election was a referendum on Reagan. Not every election works this way. It takes a strong candidate to pull it off.
I wonder if James Hohmann who runs "The Daily 202" realizes that the more he writes about Trump, the more he helps him.

O'Donnell spent about 15 minutes being "the Queen of Nice" before her true personality (loud, angry bully) revealed itself. She has spent the last couple decades picking fights with one person after another, abusing the staff on her shows, and adding her loud, angry bully voice to leftist political causes, even when doing so revealed her as a hypocrite.
She is not a sympathetic figure. At all. Moreover, she was the one who started the spat with Trump. This would be years ago. So for her to end up as one of the biggest punch lines of his campaign for president -- poetic justice, IMO.
Voting for #NeverTrump in 2010 and 2014 got me Congress funding Amnesty, IRS targeting, Risk corridors and Planned Parenthood and GOPe contempt for the Tea Party who gave them those majorities. Even flatworms learn to turn away from pain.

ReplyDeleteFor example, the Stop Trump crowd, right and left, have their panties in a wad over Trump criticizing the judge in the Trump University case. Do they really think, that in a time of a $100 speeding ticket with $1,237 tacked on for costs and assessment, that people are fretting about the finer points of the Code of Judicial ethics?
Another. There's a big whoop about Trump singling out a lone black man at a rally as an example of his black friends. I can see the followup now:
An ad with a photo of Ben Carson and other accomplished black people with the caption "These are my black friends". Then a photo of the looting in Ferguson and the caption "These are Hillary's".
There are so many tin ears out there that tins cans can make a comeback.

ReplyDeletePeople see the in crowd--sandy berger--get away with stealing secret documents and getting a slap on the wrist. They see the most intelligent woman in the world not remembering anything in a deposition. Her lawyer and presumably the "second smartest woman in the world" not remembering something 187 times and is it any wonder that people wonder about the code of justice?
"Justice" is only for the law abiding. Anyone else can get away with murder, rioting, ignoring existing law and the constitution.
Anytime a lawyer or police officer wants to know anything from me I now know it is my interest to quote Sgt Shultz, "I know nothing!"
The fact that the judge is a member of "La Raza Attorneys Association" would disqualify him.
ReplyDeleteWho are we kidding? Trump rose to national level by promising to build a wall to stop Latino illegal immigration. Do you think the judge agrees with that? I don't care where the judge was born and raised. The fact that he is a member of La Raza biases him and disqualifies him.
