Newsweek ran the caption, "Terrorism has account for a tiny fraction of the deaths in America," under a photo of Freedom Tower which was built over Ground Zero.
Yes, the caption said "account" not accounted.
As FDR said, we have nothing to fear but fear itself -- and fanatic Muslims with box cutters seizing control of planes and crashing them into our buildings.
Newsweek has been off the rails for a couple of decades now. Maybe longer.
ReplyDeleteNewsweek hasn't been worth reading since Raymond Moley stopped writing for it, and that's been nearly 50 years.
DeleteNews--maybe. Week--spelled with an A: Weak.
ReplyDeleteuh, uh, we can, uh absorb attacks like uh, uh the ones on 9/11,, uh, because uh, uh, that's who we uh, uh are....
ReplyDeleteAnd we get rectal exams by amateur pervert nurse practitioners in TSA uniforms at the airport because our political class can't face up to the fact that Muslims are the problem.
ReplyDeleteNewsweek was sold by The Washington Post Company to stereo magnate Sidney Harman for the price of $1 and assumption of liabilities in 2010.
ReplyDeleteIt's value hasn't appreciated much since then.
Awful Glenn posted your blog links TODAY, which means I can't get Vol. 2 free. Apparently that was a 1-day trick. Only Yesterday. Sigh...

The music industry has undergone convulsions in its distribution model too. And websites like Khan Academy and Udacity and their upcoming competitors are making homeschooling a more viable option all the time.
DeleteThe time to call for the return to better quality teaching in schools was decades ago. Nowadays, that's like the call for a return to better buggy whip making.

ReplyDeleteI also remember "Useless News and World Distort" ;->
Dropping my Newsweek subscription 10 years ago was the best thing I ever did.
ReplyDeleteHow did you actually come to read anything in Newsweek??
ReplyDeleteMore people have died at home in their own beds in the years since World War 2 than were killed in World War 2. So, Newsweek, was that war just over-rated?
