Muslim charged in mosque fire

Someone set a mosque in Houston on fire on Christmas Day. About 80 firemen and women fought fire, which destroyed almost everything but the Korans.

From NBC News in Houston that day:
"Because of the recent spike in hate incidents targeting mosques nationwide, we urge law enforcement authorities to investigate a possible bias motive for this fire," said CAIR-Houston Executive Director Mustafaa Carroll.
A recent study found that hate crimes targeting Muslims, their mosques and businesses have tripled this year with most of the incidents occurring in recent weeks. Vandalized mosques have been reported in California, Arizona and Georgia.
Today police arrested Gary Nathaniel Moore, 37, of Houston, saying he started the fire. He is a Muslim who attended the church five times a day to pray, seven days a week for five years, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Expecting an apology from CAIR? We shall see.

This is another reason to wait for facts before commenting on a crime.

  1. Self praise is no praise, but .. . I just knew it right away.

Reminiscent of activist faculty members and students, who, disappointed by the lack of racism on campus, go around planting nooses and scrawling graffiti.

Why shouldn't they? It works, except in those cases where the perp gets caught, in which case the media quickly forgets.

  2. Don, look at his photo. The guy is Amish I tell you, A.M.I.S.H!
    Or not.

  3. Now, whenever we get one of these "hate crimes" I just assume it's an inside job. How many of these cases have been perpetrated by one the victimization/identity groups against their own in order to gin up anger against whitey/America/heterosexuals. A bunch.

  4. Denny,

    What a wonderful "religion."

    There, fixed.
