Lefty policies really are sickening

"San Francisco Logs Over 16,000 Feces Complaints Since 2013" read the headline at Info Wars.

Logs. How appropriate.

The Left now allows people to defecate and urinate in the streets without penalty in many of its cities. The smell aside, this is a major health risk. Feces are toxic.

In the 19th century, true progressives fought to clean the streets of filth. Modern sanitation and water cleaned by chlorine are part of the reason the life expectancy of people doubled in the past century.

The Fake Progressives now oppose that. They tell police to ignore laws against public defecation. They are setting up the circumstances for a true epidemic.

But then 30 years ago when AIDS could have been nipped in the bud, they opposed treating it as a venereal disease. That would mean shutting down the bath houses, and tracking down partners.

Instead of doing that, the Left used AIDS as an excuse to peddle condoms to schoolchildren in the name of safe sex. Other venereal diseases are now on the rise as well.

And just as defecating in the streets of San Francisco is OK, the Los Angeles Times reported last October, "Knowingly exposing others to HIV will no longer be a felony in California."

Then there is the opposition to vaccinations.Ten years ago, Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy led the crusade against vaccinating kids. She said it gave her son autism. Turns out, he isn't autistic.

Last year, the New York Post reported it has spread to dogs: "Skeptical Brooklynites are joining the anti-vaccination movement — balking at immunizations for their pooches or pussycats — in fear that the shots may cause autism and other health problems."

Then there are plastic bags, which are cheap and easily disposed (along with any germs) after a single use. They replaced paper bags, which had replaced germ-ridden cloth bags. Now the Left wants us to go back to cloth bags.

Then there are straws. They prevent the spread of germs. The Left wants the plastic ones banned.

I forget who said it first -- Glenn Reynolds? -- but The Left Is Not Healthy for Children and Other Living Things.

  1. The city, officials and residents, don't seem to understand the very serious health hazard of feces laying around EVERYWHERE. Even animals know not to poop in their nest. Nor do they seem to understand cross-contamination from just walking through the streets and stringing diseased crap from their shoes to homes, cars, airplanes, every building, etc. It is appalling. Not just the poop but the ignorance and the assumption that medical attention will save them from the disease vector of San Francisco. This is how pandemics start.

    2. Never mind that comment (I don't know how to delete them). I thought you were talking about vaccines when what you meant was public health.

  4. Anything can be overdone, including vaccinations. This business of forcing health care workers to take flu vaccines is a case in point. I used to take flu vaccines when I was in private practice because my staff requested it. After several years of getting the flu every winter in spite of taking it, or even simply getting sick from the shot itself, I decided to quit. Nothing changed. After joining the university I was then required to take them. Nothing changed.

I have also had a couple of patients who were permanently paralyzed from Guillain-Barre syndrome that they got from flu vaccines. One woman told me that when the swine flu panic that came along during the Ford administration she was so panicked upon hearing that the supply of vaccine might run out that she lied in order to get it for herself more quickly. A mistake she thought about quite a bit from her nursing home bed, and made a point to tell everyone.

They now admit that they more often than not miss the mark on which strains they decide to make the vaccines for (they have to decide which strains they think are going to be common in advance of the season), and are now using terms like increased herd immunity and some nonsense about vaccines being heart healthy because users have less incidence of cardiac events (does it occur to them that there might be a selection bias in their data? I bet they don't care -- it's more about demonstrating power and control at this point, and potential lawsuits for hundreds of thousands of people who have been unnecessarily coerced). I'm betting that in a few years they make it optional in a very subdued, quiet way. Or someone comes up with something that really works.

Sure, the anti-vaccine crowd are nuts. But the response shouldn't to cheerlead for any vaccine the elites want, either. Remember when the governor of Texas wanted to make all kids take the HPV vaccine? Sometimes advocacy for public health is more about virtue signaling, germ paranoia, investments, and trying to control every little thing in our lives than about common sense.

    2. I thought this was about public filth not vaccinations. They are completely different subjects. Thanks for trying to change the subject and divert attention from something even the Victorians knew would kill multitudes which is fundamental hygiene which progressive Democrats in San Francisco have difficulty understanding is driving the public away.

  9. Congratulations, and welcome to the third world of our own making. August 11, 2017, the movie Toilet Ek Prem Katha starring Akshay Kumar released in India, adding to public awareness of a massive anti defecation campaign across India. San Francisco is a shameful example of a developed country snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. I am guessing that there has never been a time in the history of this nation that life in a city was so primitive.

  10. The Left is impervious to accountability for their precious policy prescriptions, which are always doomed to fail anyway, as they are based exclusively on virtue-signalling rather than incentives and disincentives (which will work as long as the problem to be solved is defined correctly).

Fuel for the "leftism is a mental defect" theory I guess.
