The media is a mess

Bill Press and Joy Behar said Mike Pence is mentally ill because he is a Christian.

Brian Stelter of CNN said the first lady has disappeared.

A Rolling Stone writer speculated that Donald Trump is a wife beater.

Calling the president's daughter the C-word is now OK.

The New York Times said a June 12 summit with Kim Jong Un was impossible, misquoting a White House official.

USA Today misquoted Trump; he did not call all immigrants animals -- only MS-13 gang bangers.

Reporters used a 2014 horror story about illegal alien children to take a swipe at Trump.

And on.

And on.

And on.

For three years we have had this nonsense -- this roar of the dinosaurs as they lose their power, and their grip on reality.

Most of the press is in a sick groupthink, obsessed with bringing President Trump down. None of them care if they bring the country down with them. For all their pious proclamations of being vital to our republic, the truth is they now are a carbuncle. An oozing and diseased carbuncle.

On Twitter, I follow Ron Coleman, a First Amendment lawyer who won a pretty groovy case before the Supreme Court involving the Slants, an Asian-American rock group. They sought to have the name trademarked. They were turned down because the government said the name was racist.

Now the kicker: the government said if they were white musicians, they could get the trademark because then it would not be racist.

Huh?

Coleman won.

He is unhappy with our press.

The media is a mess.

It was powerful. It thinks it still is. But power corrupts.

Is there a better example than Roseanne Barr losing her TV show over a dumb tweet and Samantha Bee getting a TV award days after calling Ivanka Trump one of the seven words George Carlin could not say on TV?

President Trump has not made them crazy. He merely revealed them for who they are.

  1. Journalism is not a priesthood. The job is "observe and report" not "lecture and pontificate."

  2. I've started calling them carping Catos since Cato didn't care if he brought the Roman Republic down as long as he could bring Caesar down. The Cato faction by opposing Caesar and starting another civil war brought an end to the Republic. - GOC

    2. Carp are oily, stinky, nasty, bottom feeders. The media are acting like a carp out of water: flopping around in any direction spewing filth and making a mess while gasping for their last breath. - Elric

    1. And that's just for starters. I think their plan is to rewrite the Constitution without the assistance of white heterosexual cisgendered (whatever THAT means) men.

  4. Look on the bright side. Back in the day, the press had enough influence with the voting public it could affect an election. The media have now squandered away so much of their creditability their influence on the outcome of an election can barely move the needle.

    1. Yup. If the WaPo tells me to vote for Candidate A, you can be damn sure I’m voting for Candidate Not A.

  5. I think we need changes to our libel laws. Lying and smearing people should not be part of the First Amendment. The truth should be.

Sure, they're free to print lies but why is CNN's Acosta allowed into press conferences?

  7. My sister is visiting. Her only news is cnn, msnbc and the nbc evening news read by Lester Dolt. She is attack raving mad that PDJT my bring about peace with North Korea. She believes every piece of propaganda spewed by those stations and refuses to look at any other source for follow up or context. It is sad and scary that such loonacy exists.

  9. It’s a sad day for the media when their level of accuracy and attention to detail falls below that of wartime enemy propaganda broadcasters.

Funny how this comment worked for the last item, and works again for this one:

  12. I went to get my eyes examined today. CNN was on the TV in the waiting room.
The doc was running late, so I was exposed to CNN for over an hour. I think it was during Wolf Blitzer. (Is that his porn/stripper name?)
I could not believe how hostile they are toward the president.

On a similar note, at the place I get my car serviced, the TV is on, but there's a note attached: "We'll change the channel, but not to a news channel. We've had too many arguments among the customers."
