Laura Bush shows Democrats are desperate

Many readers likely are wondering why Laura Bush put her name on an op-ed condemning President Trump for enforcing a border protection law that her husband signed into law.

The short answer is she is all the Democrats have left.

Their leadership is too tainted by scandal or incompetence (and in the case of Hillary, both) to persuade anyone.

Bill is a joke with his pants around his ankles. Obama's legacy quickly shrank like a cheap T-shirt in its first wash. Not one of their 2020 candidates had sense enough to give President Trump a sportsmanlike chance, which renders their sermons on morality to be the political opportunism in the eyes of even among the low-information voters who are the bedrock of their electoral battle plan.

Thus the outreach to a former Republican. Old President Bush is too old. The younger President Bush is too ashamed of his presidency to speak out.

So it fell upon Laura Bush to put her name on this column.

She is a former Republican because if you did not support our candidate in the last presidential election, then you have left the team. Parties are national. Either you support the nominee or you lose your membership.

The Democrats are pushing to erase the borders. They cannot make a valid argument, and so they must make an emotional one. They chose children being torn from their mothers as the emotional tug.

The roll out 10 days ago was messy because they chose for their propaganda a heart-wrenching photo from 2014 -- when Democrats were in charge.

But nevertheless, they plunge forward. They want open borders now, now, now.

"I live in a border state. I appreciate the need to enforce and protect our international boundaries, but this zero-tolerance policy is cruel. It is immoral. And it breaks my heart," she wrote.

That's the law her husband agreed to.

And the piece included the kind of chest-thumping morality that Obama favors.

"Americans pride ourselves on being a moral nation. If we are truly that country, then it is our obligation to reunite these detained children with their parents — and to stop separating parents and children in the first place," she wrote.

How many children of military parents did her husband separate with his wars in Afghanistan and Iraq?

The Establishment likes cheap labor and so they exploit illegal immigrants to achieve this.

Which they wrap in morality, like Keith Olbermann wrapping himself in an American flag for his book cover. The difference is they are less sincere.

  1. I vote for uniting the families in Mexico, Nicaragua, Columbia, or wherever they came from. If they want to be in the US keep the parents in jail and tend to the kids the same way kids are treated whose parents are in jail.

  2. "I live in a border state. I appreciate..."

Oh please. She lives surrounded by Secret Service agents 24/7/365. She has armed security everywhere she goes.

No illegals will be traipsing through her property in the dark of night, breaking into her barn or house.

She is rich beyond words. She, her children, and her grandchildren have no need to work a single day in their lives and yet will enjoy the kind of affluence 99% of us can only imagine.

She can go jump in a lake.

    2. And besides, when she hires the parents for pennies an hour, the children work for free.

She knows a bargain, you have to admit that!

Of course you'll have to explain the question, if the answer is Harvard or Yale, because of what CMN said!

  4. Anyone seeking asylum or wanting to immigrate must apply from outside the U.S. Anyone caught trying to enter the U.S. illegally should be met with deadly force and either killed or turned back. - Elric

    1. I'm not sure about the deadly force part, but I agree with your 'turned back' part. So, why don't we? Why are we arresting these people at the border and housing them? Why don't we simply say, 'nice try. Don't do it again. Go away now.'?

    2. If they enter illegally they are invaders not immigrants and could be met with deadly force.

  5. Like all the elites these days, her sympathies lie with foreigners rather than her own people.

Wanna talk about broken families? Spend a day in family court where men are treated like crap.

    1. Been there, done that. When my daughter was finally old enough to escape her mother's grasp and greed and the court couldn't reverse her decision she moved in with me. The child support payments, which began the week after her mother filed for it, took me over six months to have stopped - even though my daughter was living with me.

One day she mentioned that she had been living with me for a full year now. I asked what she thought of it. She said, "It's been the best year of my life." She's now signed up to be an officer in Uncle Sam's Army.

  6. GW said once the flow accross the border could never be stopped as long as someone could make 5$ an hour here but 50cents there. He was never serious about enforcement. The Bush family dispises DT and for good reason.
The Democrats are still fixated on the female vote. To them, Trump didn't win because voters they rejected as retards showed up for him, but rather they think not enough women in key states showed up for her. They base this on statistical analysis of the vote which they interpret as losing by a hair. Hence this tear-jerker issue and L Bush out front to shield their pasty white male faces from view. It may work for awhile. Republicans have to hope that the dollar and cents side of the female psychee, noting the better economy and the security it is providing, will over come the emotional pressures this false issue provokes, largely with Rino help too. Perhaps DT will make some genius move to keep control. He ran on making the border secure and he should stay that course, no matter the flood of crocodile tears on CNN.

  7. Virtue signaling by rich women who have some very unsavory things on their conscience. Instead of atonement she spouts garbage. Shaming doesn't work anymore because it is cheap manipulation by very, very flawed characters.

  8. As someone else graphically posted on the Internet, the Democrats have no problem with children being separated from their mothers as long as it's done with forceps used to crush their skulls. They want to talk about morality or cruelty? Sure, let's really get into that.

  9. It seems to me that the solution of separated families is a simple one. Don't want your family separated? Don't cross the border illegally. Problem solved.

Funny how the word "illegal" keeps getting swept under the political rug

  10. Laura Bush always struck me as very low IQ. As first lady she could only wave. Her dimwitted article is a Bush PR piece trying rehabilitate a terrible Bush presidency. So glad this family is out of the WH.

  11. LB is far up the IQ scale I'm afraid. She made an emotional remark with which many agree. Don implies sometimes that if you don't stand and cheer at every breath Trump takes you deserve to become atoms and the void. I don't think even He believes that. Bush would probably agree with DTs statement an hour ago that the USA will not become migrant camp on his watch.

  12. They didn't care when Kate Steinle was separated from her parents. Or Ronald Da Silva. Or Shayley Estes. Or Drew Rosenberg. Or Tessa Tranchant. Or all the others, including this 14-year-old:

"His dreams were to go on to University of Michigan after high school to play football and study forensic science." Warner-Lee told Detroit News."I believe he would have done both."

Justin Lee was separated from his parents just the other day. Permanently. He was run over by an illegal alien who left him in a ditch and tried to flee the country.

Yet not a peep from Michael Hayden.

    Or Nancy Pelosi.

    Or Laura Bush. *crickets*

  15. Well, you know what they say. The problem with open borders is eventually you run out of other people’s neighborhoods.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Wish that were so. Or at least that eventually were sooner. The elites screaming and preening about enforcing our immigration laws, are extremely rich, and live in private compounds in exclusive neighborhoods, gated, and protected by armed guards. Their children attend the most exclusive private schools in the country. i.e. they feel none of the consequences caused by the tidal wave of illegal immigrants that overrun our southern border.

  16. Hey, Laura, what did W do about it? What did your father-in-law do about it?

The US is acting upon law that has been around since at least the 1980s and in its current form after a lawsuit since the late 1990s.

Our government is following the law.

We do not live in a kingdom whereby the President's decree is final as Obama attempted to do.

How about you castigate Congress? How about you also asign blame to Reagan, HW, Clinton, W, and Obama?

  18. If Laura really believes the immigrant kid crap written in the WaPo, she isn't just a hypocrite given that her husband George signed the bill that causes the kids to be separated, but she really does deserve to be viewed as a Trump hating feckless cunt.

  24. All of a sudden the ONLY OPINION ALLOWED is that if you show up at the US border with a child and look pathetic and poor, you are immune from US laws. Because if you violate a law, doing something to you inherently involves "separating you from your children" and this is the most important prohibited thing there is.
Lets be honest. Everyone in the world has children. Or if they don't they can borrow one or two. So everyone in the world who wants to play the "children" card can be exempt from US laws. In the world of Democrats, the Media and even a lot of Republicans, they can gain admission into the US and they will be taken care of forever and ever until the end of time.
A good change to "refugee" laws: A so-called refugee should be required to find a safer part of their own country to live in before they can claim to be a refugee. Just like almost everybody who lived in Buffalo NY a couple generations back now lives in places like Cheektowaga and Williamsville, if you don't like the city you live in moved to a better one.

  26. The Bush family, at long last, are showing their true colors and that color is blue. They will align themselves with people who were and are determined to destroy this country and join in their propaganda ploys as though they are sacrosanct. Keep in mind these immigrants are callous to the extreme. Some going so far as to send their children ALONE to be taken in, knowing that then they will stand a better chance of getting in by claiming the kids. Many are using kids as tools and props, and those that aren't are still breaking our laws. Do those laws count? Of course the democrats say no. Their only hope is to flood this country with illegals in the hope of developing a massive welfare class that votes democrat.
