Happy West Virginia Day -- the sanest state in the nation

Today is the 155th anniversary of statehood for West Virginia. That's the New River Gorge. I have some good news. A study by a professor at Southern Methodist University found that West Virginia is the least psychopathic state in the lower 48 states.

Alaska and Hawaii were not included in the study.

"The psychopathy evaluation for each state is an estimate, notes Ryan Murphy, professor at Southern Methodist University and author of the study, published on Social Science Research Network (SSRN.) The calculation is based in part on previous research that established the levels of big five personality traits (extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to experience) in each state," Olivia Goldhill wrote.

The most psycho state is Connecticut, followed by California.

Eight of the 10 most psychopathic states voted for Hillary. This explains the resistance, the Russian collusion nonsense, and the holding their breath till they turn blue.

Seven of the 10 most serene states supported President Trump in the last election.

Why is West Virginia so sane? Consider the scenery. We live in a hardwood forest. It's almost heaven.

Also, we ship our crazies to California. See Manson, Charles.

  1. Nice photo. Unless you're on the top of the hills you don't realize that they're all about the same height. So, West Virginia isn't really a state with a lot of hills, it's a state comprised of a plateau (actually several) cut deeply by numerous watercourses.

As for the levels of psychopathy, I need to see more information. In my experience, most of the psychopaths I have known have been women. How does the level of psychopathy in each state in this study correspond to the ratio of women in the demographics? Just wondering.

    1. Elric, get some sleep, buddy. So the Alleghenies are the normal altitude? Please. As for women, I can tell ya for a FACK that there are a lot more sane women than men in this country. When was the last time you heard about a school shooting committed by a girl?

    4. Hey zregime- how many school shootings were there before women got the vote? Hmmmm? I'm just sayin'. Still, I love women, don't want to get rid of them or put them in garbage bags like some do. They can be dangerous, though!

I'm worried about this claim that Connecticut is "the most psycho State." I can almost hear Moonbat Brown saying, "Hold my beer!"

They got it wrong, give Brown his due; we here in CA can't take much more crazy!

  2. Shoot, I coulda told ya that, Big D. We keep it real in DubVee. The friendliness of this state beats even Montana. (Writing from Flagstaff, AZ) I hear her voice, in the morning hour she calls me, radio reminds me of my home far away...

By early Thursday morning we’ll be back home.

His dad, however, liteally flew the excrement out of B-58 Hustlers. Let us be thankful for HIS service.

    2. The '58 was not an easy to fly aircraft. One guy I knew in the aerial firefighting business was
a former B-58 pilot. "It was one of those aircraft that had to be flown from chock to chock. Like
      the F-104!." TG

  5. The mountains of the east coast are very old and have weathered to be much smaller than they were originally. They are not a plateau cut by water. They are folded and crushed and uplifted in a way that plateaus are not.

  7. A truly beautiful state. Another thing that list proves is that money can’t buy happiness. Some of the poorest states dominate the bottom of the list (most serene).

    I love WVA

  11. California, my state, has truly been taken over by migrating leftist loonies from other states but recently we have learned that we are growing our own with the help of our schools and colleges. yes..they are psychos.
