We already have background checks, Nancy

Nancy Pelosi went on CNN and showed her ignorance not only of firearms but gun control as well.

"I would rather pass the background check in the Congress right now, today, than win the election because it would save lives," she said.

We already have that.

We have had that for five decades as the Gun Control act of 1968 will celebrate its 50th anniversary in October.

The FBI fingerprint center in Clarksburg, West Virginia, has conducted 287 million background checks in the last 20 years alone.

Gun sellers must be federally licensed, and as such, they must check the background of a gun buyer each time they sell to that person. This applies at gun shows as well as the dealer's store. There is no loophole.

As far as saving lives, that is a dubious claim. Homicides shot up after passage of the act and remained above the 1968 level (on a per capita basis) for 40 years. Rare is the attempted gun purchaser prosecuted for failing to pass the background check.

Of course, CNN failed to challenge her lie.

It is a Fake News operation that reports facts about guns only by accident.

  1. We'd all be safer if Democrats were barred from having guns, hiring people with guns, or ever being in charge of anyone who might use a gun.

    1. This idea is hardly facetious. Progressive thought is all about shedding responsibility from your own self onto another then taking righteous revenge on him for the "suffering" he made you endure. The FBI should include 'Democrat?'in the mental Rx question on background data to exclude purchase.

    2. Or starring in any film involving firearms. Let those Hollywood hypocrites find work elsewhere.

  2. When the Dems and the Enemedia attack the NRA keep in mind that the membership of the NRA is several millions. The count of guns owned by them is many millions. The count of rounds of ammo is likely a billion.
IF EVEN 1% of NRA members were flaky you would know it. Because that is a LOT of guns and ammo.

The safety level and the commitment to responsible behavior by NRA members is WAY WAY above average.

  3. Well, Stretch, lemme tell ya how it was for me when I bought my CZ in the People’s Republic of Maryland. I decided on the firearm and then had to fill out about ten pages of paperwork, including prints, mandatory references, and then had to sit through a half hour video on gun safety. The coupe de grace was after I’d finished all that and paid, they took my freakin gun away from me and sent to the state ballistics authorities in Baltimore to get a “fingerprint” of the gun’s ballistics pattern. That took about three weeks.

Now I ask you, Nance...how many muderers up in Baltimore went through that?

I’m WAY past GD sick of Liberal Commies.

    1. Yes, for a permit to purchase firearms in MD. I bought mine before that crap started. Funny though that a AR-15 style firearm is a legal purchase if it has a heavy barrel. I didn't believe it and went to a dealer and confirmed it. But a standard barrel on an AR-15 style firerm is illegal to purchase; they both fire the .223 round as does my legal to purchase 10/22 looking Ruger Ranch.

    1. That's a GREAT idea!

It certainly is a win-win, since the NRA doesn't get any Federal money anyway, but the Planned Babykiller mob certainly does!

And it'll save a lot more than "just one life," too!

    2. Except that the government doesn't find the NRA. It's actually the other way around.

  5. CNN failed to challenge her lie.

    No lie.

    Alzheimer's.

Background checks have been around since before even she was in Congress (or incongruous, if you prefer).

  6. Nancy would sell her grandkids into bondage in an Arab whorehouse if she thought it would get her one more vote from the idiot California voters.

  7. Hey there. We're not all idiots here in the People's Republic. How about we send maybe 5 or 6 thousand your way to ease off the pressure on our state?

  8. "Gun sellers must be federally licensed". Not true. Anybody can be a sell a gun without a FFL. No NICS. That's the loophole. Just go to a gunshow. Wait for a private individual to try to sell something. When the FFL dealer low balls them, meet them in the parking lot. No NICS. All legal.

    1. That might be true in some states, but not all. In the People's Demokracy of Kalifornia, you'll go to jail for doing that.

Here's a short article with a map showing where you might be able to do this, but check the laws in your state before trying!

      http://www.governing.com/gov-data/safety-justice/gun-show-firearms-bankground-checks-state-laws-map.html

BTW- it's called the "gun show loophole," but it's actually about private parties selling guns to other private parties, whether in the gun show parking lot or elsewhere. In California and other gun-hating states this is illegal, but in the USA it's still OK.

    2. First off, private sellers do not go to gun shows. And if I were to sell a gun to another party,we would meet at my FFL to do a background on the buyer, that way the serial # of the gun transfers from me to the buyer, now go away.

      Delete
    3. Not even close. Not sure what planet you go to gun shows on. Made many private transfers at gun shows. All legal. Supposed conservatives sure are ignorant about Federal Gun Laws.

    4. It's too confusing to try to talk to a series of anonymous posters, or I'd continue the conversation. (Get a name, guys- they don't cost anything.)

I am a Class 3 FFL myself, so I do keep up with the gun laws of my state; but since so much depends on what state or states we're talking about, I urge everyone to research the laws in YOUR state before doing anything as foolish as trying to buy/sell a gun in a parking lot.

In California they have plainclothes cops in the parking lots of gun shows hoping to catch someone doing that!

  11. 98% of gun attacks on school grounds occurred after the "gun free school zone" legislation was passed. To eliminate that problem rescind the "gun free school zone" law.

  12. Omigosh! Talk about your easy lay-up! How’s about the Congress pass existing law into law (again)... just to trap Nancy into fulfilling in her commitment to not get re-elected?
