Mia Love's come to Trumpus moment

Republican Congresswoman Mia Love of Utah was no fan of Donald John Trump.

A month before the 2016 election, Love said, "His behavior and bravado have reached a new low. I cannot vote for him."

That followed the release of the 2005 Billy Bush tape in which Trump crudely said that beautiful women will let a good-looking celebrity get away with anything.

Love's parents are from Haiti. In January, after the Fake News media reported President Trump may have in private called some foreign countries shitholes, she issued a statement.

"The President’s comments are unkind, divisive, elitist, and fly in the face of our nation’s values. This behavior is unacceptable from the leader of our nation. My parents came from one of those countries but proudly took an oath of allegiance to the United States and took on the responsibilities of everything that being a citizen comes with," the statement said.

But actions speak louder than words.

96% of the time, Love votes with Trump, 538 reported.

Trump's actions, too, speak louder than his words.

On Saturday, Trump welcomed home Joshua Holt, a Mormon from Utah, freed from custody in Venezuela. The case received little attention outside the Beehive State, but Utahns were very concerned and worked two years on getting his release

Senate President Pro Tempore Orrin Hatch of Utah praised the president's efforts, as well as those of Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Bob Corker of Tennessee, and committee staffer Caleb McCarry, Bush 43's expert on Cuba.

Corker is hardly a Trumper.

But they worked together.

However, it was Love's praise of the president that impressed me. In the White House ceremony, Love spoke directly to President Trump.

"I don’t think that there is a person in the United States right now that doesn’t realize that you have their back. I so wanted to personally thank you for keeping a promise that you made to me. Every time I would go and see you, I would bring up Joshua’s name, and you would say, ‘I’m going to do everything I can.’ And obviously, I believe it," Love said.

She has learned something about Trump's words. They can be entertaining. They can be irritating. They can be baffling. But the only words that matter are the ones in his promises because he keeps those.

Truly, his actions speak louder than his words. In Chicago, his action towers 98 stories over the city.

  1. Echoing Ms. Love (or she is echoing me, perhaps), I have maintained since the inauguration that the difference between Dems and the President is that they love the people in the abstract while the President loves and cares about people as individuals.

    2. Or in Lucy Van Pelt's words: "I love mankind. It's people I can't stand."

The Democrats are also like Lucy in pulling away the football each time; thank G-d, Trump is the first Republican president in quite some time to not be Charlie Brown.

    3. The Dems don’t love the poor, they just hate the rich. Themselves excluded.

    4. Not Lucy, at least not in the original strip! Linus wanted to be a doctor and Lucy accused him of not loving mankind. Linus replied, "I love mankind, it's people I can'tell stand!" --BJ54

    5. Mia Love is still a NeverTrumper. She signed onto the democrats amnesty bill a few days ago.

  2. I spent election night in the grand ballroom of the Trump tower.

    Wonderful facility, great food.

About 9:30 they set up a big tv and chairs in the vestibule and there were as many outside watching as inside partying.

Not a political event but a thank you reception that a machine builder puts on every 2 years.

I made my son come with me so he too could say "I was there"

President Trump is a builder par excellence and is doing afantastic job building this country back

  3. I donated to Love's campaigns from when she first started out, but when she criticized Trump I stopped being a supporter. I may now resume my support of her.

    1. She looked like the ultimate conservative when she started out. Maybe she will become that.

    2. Save your money. Look at how she signed onto the democrats amnesty bill a few days ago.

    3. Iapetus, I too donated when she first started out, but like Poopsie I have come to regret it.

She's almost a stereotype of the establishment Republican: staunch conservative until elected, then Democrat-lite afterward.

When she's up for re-election, I'm sure she'll once again be a staunch conservative, but I won't be funding her. Once bitten, twice shy!

  9. I get it. I too was not a yuge Trump fan before he was elected, and voted for him only because of the hideous alternative.

But like Ms. Love, who I greatly admire, I've come to appreciate that Trump gets stuff DONE!

  11. Scott Adams, one of the few people to correctly call the election, has predicted that over time people would eventually come around to the position that (I'm paraphrasing) "Yeah, he's a big fat jerk, but I like what he is doing." Seems to be happening.

  14. A related headline reads: “NYT Columnist Worries Mueller Investigation Actually Helping Trump”

My suggestion: Maybe that was the point all along. You see, Mueller is part of the Eastern Liberal Establishment, having attended the same Prep School with John Kerry. The 2004 Presidential “Election” was between two Yale “Skull & Bones”-men, George W. Bush and John Kerry (who is married to the (((Heinz))) fortune). ALL these people are (including Trump) belong to the “Jews”. It’s quite possibly all theatre. You see, everything is about IDENTITY POLY-TRICKS, keeping everyone at each other’s throats, so that the criminals (in BOTH parties) can continue the THEATRE, while NO ONE gets put in an ORANGE JUMPSUIT, and while the so-called “Federal” “Reserve” continues to FINANCIALLY IMPOVERISH AND DEBT-ENSLAVE Americans 24/7, indefinitely ~ the end-game of the Western 1% "Jew" World Order. (((Sulzberger))) owns the "Jew" York Times.
