Backfire of the year

"Add them to your list," the reader wrote.

Man, I love the nominations for the Trump Effect. I have great readers. They are better informed than me.

This nomination does not quite qualify for the Don't-Feud-With-Donald-Or-You'll-Feel-The-Trump-Effect.

This was better.

The Ship of Fools who were to be a caravan of illegal immigrants headed for our southern border did not liberalize our already weak border security, but helped President Trump secure our borders.

The Mexican government decided to call it off.

"A caravan of Central American migrants whose trek across Mexico infuriated President Donald Trump has decided not to travel to the US border, leaders said Tuesday," Agence France Presse reported.

Irineo Mujica, the head of People Without Borders, told AFP, "We will wrap up our work in Mexico City."

Like Canada, Mexico has strict border enforcement. Maybe Mujica should stay in Mexico and work on getting Mexico to lighten up on its borders.

The invasion backfired. It gave President Trump a reason to send in the military. And he did.

"The situation at the border has now reached a point of crisis," Trump said in the memorandum.

"The lawlessness that continues at our southern border is fundamentally incompatible with the safety, security, and sovereignty of the American people. My administration has no choice but to act."

For every action there is a reaction. The Mexican government -- which allowed these people to enter their country illegally -- misjudged what the reaction would be.

It backfired.

They never learn.

  4. Here's the next: We're required to allow in anyone claiming asylum pending a hearing - to which they never show up.

Mexico offered humanitarian visas to hundreds of these organized invaders claiming asylum.

Why would anyone walk 1,000 miles through a country that has an asylum policy if they were truly seeking asylum?

We're not required to accept people who are obviously lying, are we?

    1. We are, if they come from a non-contiguous nation. That's why they had to import these idiots through Mexico. -- BJ54

  5. The National Guard was there for theater. By law, there's very little they can actively do to stop the invasion. A confrontation at the border could have gotten very nasty for us. Coincidentally, the Palestinians are making a similar rush to Israel's border, but Israel's response is always likely to be very different than ours. Perhaps because they have fewer lawyers there?

  6. Ann Coulter threw a fit on Faux News Channel and Cap'n spray tan is trying to get back into her good graces. When do they start building the fence--er wall--er whatever the Mexican government is supposed to pay for? Wait, are they still not paying for anything? So much winning.
