Why the press defends McCabe's crime

Lying to the FBI is a crime. Andrew McCabe lied to the FBI even as he was the agency's deputy director. This cost him his job as deputy director of the FBI. In a just world, prosecutors would indict him just as they did Martha Stewart (and others).

We shall see how just America is.

But we know our media is not worthy of a great nation because most of the scribes would be more comfortable working under a Soviet system where they could protect the state.

Which is why they protect McCabe.

Ideology and partisanship have little to do with this because this is all about money and power too. McCabe put in motion the Russian dossier fable, which has meant billions to CNN, MSNBC, and others.

They promote this lie because it keeps their audiences up, and those audiences have filled their coffers with record high subscription fees.

For a long time, the media covered McCabe's scandal with its Cloak of Invisibility. Now they circle wagons to protect him. Andrea Mitchell of Comcast's MSNBC channel called for a congressman to put him on the payroll long enough to secure a lifetime pension. I don't think that is how it works.

You see, reporters protect sources at all costs because as I said, billions are at stake. They are no more interested in the truth than the Easter bunny is. CNN has yet to tell the public who gave them that story that libeled Anthony Scaramucci, which CNN subsequently retracted.

The press loves the deep state. Atlantic monthly declared the Department of Justice to be an "independent agency," which not only is untrue but it is unconstitutional. The president appoints the attorney general (and others). The Constitution holds that the president is the chief executive.

"Andrew McCabe, a former acting and deputy FBI director who had drawn the ire of President Trump, was fired by Attorney General Jeff Sessions late Friday evening, a decision that raises troubling questions about the independence of both the Justice Department and the FBI," Adam Serwer wrote for Atlantic.

Actually, it answered troubling questions. To the question of its independence, the answer is not just no, but no infinity.

If he were a Trump supporter, the press would be all over McCabe because his wife received $700,000 from a Clinton crony while McCabe headed the FBI's Fake Investigation of Hillary.

But he does not face the music. He is a source. And the press defends its sources no matter how much they lie.

After all, billions are at stake.

From Leslie Eastman's review at Legal Insurrection:
Surber, a recovering journalist with over 30 years of experience, has been cataloging the #FakeNews that has been regularly offered as serious analysis of President Donald Trump’s actions, policies, and opinions. He has brought his enormous collection together in the longest, most serious book he has yet written: Fake News Follies of 2017.
Fake News Follies of 2017 is available on Kindle and in paperback.

Autographed copies are available. Email me at DonSurber@GMail.com for details. I am including a "director's cut." I will give you the original Chapter 1 that I cut because while the chapter was amusing, it really had nothing to do with the Fake News Follies of 2017.

  1. The McCabes won't starve without his pension. His wife is a pediatrician and probably makes a hefty income, and I've no doubt one of his cronies will hire him at a fat salary.

    2. I think he still gets a pension, but not the maximum pension dollars he was going to receive commensurate with his status.

    3. If McCabe gets indicted for something and has to start paying lawyers for his defense he'll be needing every penny he and his wife has. Did you see Flynn put his house up for sale to pay his lawyers? Why did Flynn and Scooter Libby plea to a lesser charge? Because it was cheaper than trying clear their names.

    4. What they did to Flynn & Libby was a crime >:O I wouldn't lose sleep if McCabe went broke defending himself. After all, he has committed real crimes.

    5. Libby went to trial. No plea.

    6. This McCabe losing his pension is a big lie by the liberal media. It has been irritating me how the MaCabe liberal media people lie about this. Seems the liberal people think others are stupid and don't understand how pensions work. First off there is a vesting time period to get a pension, I have read it is 5 years for govt workers. So by that point he gets a pension. So the liberals are lying, he gets a pension. Now pensions generally vest at much higer rates in last 5 years. Meaning if you quit or fired before the last 5 years you lose out on some major accruals rates for your pension. But since he was only 26 hours from pension date of retiring he most likely loses some money but not a heck of a lot. The problem he does hit is that he cannot get the pension till 57 or around 60 because he was fired. Big deal, still have most of pension and takes if later as most people in private industry do. I mean how many people you know retire at 50? It's ludicrous. I wish the liberal media would not lie about this. If you don't believe me look up article in Forbes on this topic, they explain it.

  2. I've noticed that whenever someone in the DOJ or FBI gets fired or the russian "collusion" story springs another leak the democrats and their henchmen in the press rage and warn Trump not to fire Mueller. Why on earth would he bother at this point? Mueller's "investigation" should it ever conclude, will never be accepted by anyone other than a partisan democrat. They tried to do a soft coup and failed. Can we please just move on with our lives?

    1. The Dems expect to win the US House back in the up-coming election and to use Mueller's report as an excuse to impeach Trump in 2019. I'd guess Mueller so far has found no evidence of Trump-Russia collusion so his investigators are desperately looking to find some financial issues in Trump's organization that they can label a new kind of crime they can pin on him just before the election. Mueller appears to be good at charging people for fictitious crimes that aren't on the books. Courts ultimately might take a dim view of Mueller's shenanigans, but a day of reckoning in court would come long after the election is over and would fail to undo the political damage caused by Mueller's witch hunt. That's the plan, of course. Unlike Don, I have long believed the Dems have a very good chance of accomplishing their goal to undo the 2016 election.

    2. Iapetus.... and then what? The Dem house impeaches Trump. The Senate takes no action. Trump stays. Trump voters enraged. There are NO grounds for impeachment, and even if a Dem House did it, there is no way the Senate would convict, NOR is there a removal from office provision. Trump would just ignore it all.

    3. "The Senate takes no action."

I wish I was as confident of that as you seem to be. The GOPe hates Trump's voters as much as the Dems do.

  3. --By the time President Trump’s presidency is over, one of the biggest pieces of fake news we will look back on is when we were told by the media that Trump was good for the media business. According to what is happening in a place called the real world, the truth is that business for the media is horrible.
We will start with the Denver Post, which announced Thursday that, between April 9 and July 1, 30 jobs will be cut from its newsroom. That is a massive 30 percent cut of its current staff of 100 journalists. Just 10 years ago according to the far-left Washington Post, the Denver Post employed 600 journalists. That is close to a 90 percent reduction in only a decade.--

    1. The media Don is referring to is in New York. It controls almost all "news". It is owned by massive corporations who need political power to fight each other or more correctly to maintain market share in their own bailiwick. Their revenue streams are not dependent on actually sharing reliable information. They are entertainment companies selling fantasies or sports. They do not care who is in power as long as they recieve access and obedience to their needs. They are liberal because New York is liberal as are their founders and, incidentally, Hollywood which provides them content. But money is more important to them than anything else because they have shareholders and boards of directors who answer to the markets. Paradoxically, this is why they don't care about lies fake news retractions honesty Constitutional duty
liable integrity etc because their boards do not care. None of those things affect the bottom line. They make money with them or without them.
Reliable news is not profitable as both the NYT and WaPo found out and apparently so has the Denver Post, although it was always a primitive rag. The NYT is owned by a family of fanatic liberals who saw their Scion bungle his way to near insolvency. They did not care. In their society they are royalty. The Wapo was a back water paper on its way to the dumpster when the world's richest man bought it as both a toy and a weapon. Trump hate has made his "investment" profitable for awhile. When He is gone it will sink back into irrelevance unless it can claim it put a knife in Trump's toga and so threaten the next president. Hence its lies and cover-ups.
Truth is still around. The internet keeps it alive but it is often not effective for long periods due to gate keeping by the entertainment companies who smother it with content more attractive to the average person.
Don and his friends are what Jefferson had in mind when he wrote 1A.

    2. It's even simpler than that: They are there as the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party. Every dollar they spend is an in-kind contribution.

    3. According to what is happening in a place called the real world, the truth is that business for the media is horrible. --- This is totally wrong. The focus of CNN and MSNBC, late night and others on negative Trump is massively helpful for the deranged non-Trump crowd. If you don't see that then you are being obtuse. The other problem that is happening in your Denver Post example is that written papers are going away due to the internet age. They are different issues. Think about what you write. The country is polarized and mass media is 90% negative on Trump. The media is done well to it's core constituency. It helps them alot. Now one can argue that paper media is dying, I would, and most liberal papers are gone in 5-10 years because one can read the Internet. One way or another conservatives are about 50% of the market and they are all lost to liberal papers. The death of papers is a matter of time not a Trump issue. NY Times is probably forestalling it's demise based on Trump hate rid but I don't see their model continuing to succeed when 1/2 the country will not read the NY Times and the other liberal 1/2 will but alot are moving to Internet reading.

  5. McCabe is more of a hero to the left now. He will rake it in on as an anal-ist for one of the cable stations.

  6. Of course, the Obama appointed IG and the OPR (all career FBI) are all "in the tank" for Trump.
    Tell me another fairy tale.

  7. But we miss the obvious ... McCabe's crime, that got him "fired," was leaking to the press.
Of course, they are going to defend their sources.

On the other hand, the calls to give him a job on Capitol Hill ... by Democrats ... shows the folly of this "independent" organization.

The matter of the Justice Department’s independence is particularly salient right now given that, according to multiple reports, at least three current FBI employees held over from the Obama administration and possibly several other FBI associates are currently under federal investigation for activities ranging from violation of the Hatch Act to potential sedition.

  8. Your premise is flawed. Criminal indictments against powerful people inside the FBI and Justice Dept., not mention Hilary Clinton, would also mean great ratings and more revenue, yet they cover up these crimes and protect the criminals. This is about ideology! This is about power. This is about taking over America. This is not mainly about ratings and revenue.

The stench of their corruption reaches to high heaven, they lie, cheat and steal with the ease of long practice;comes a reckoning like with the Democrat slavers of the 1860's.
