The Swamp, preseason champions

After going 1-15 in 2016, Browns Coach Hue Jackson sought to instill a Culture of Winning by going all out in the preseason. The Browns won all four of those exhibitions.

T-shirts declaring "preseason champions" were sold.

The team went 0-16 in the regular season.

"Trump fought the swamp, and the swamp won," declared John Hinderaker at Power Line.

Interestingly, he invoked the song "I Fought the Law, and the Law Won," making the column celebratory.

He held Trump -- not Congress -- responsible for the budget, which was quite odd. He cited Dan Mitchell at the Cato Institute, which has taken a backseat to the Heritage Foundation in this administration.

"The bad news is that he reversed the trend by increasing spending faster than Obama," Mitchell wrote.

This was a battle Trump could not win. If he vetoed a bill that had bipartisan support, the ensuing shutdown would be on him.

Besides, he needed the money to beef up the military.

Having gone oh-for-2016, the Swamp Critters are having fun, singing old Bobby Fuller Four songs, and acting aghast at all the spending on his watch.

But come September, President Trump will be ready to fight. And this time win.

Meanwhile, there is a T-shirt out now declaring the Browns the off-season champions.

I have balance in my life. No winning with the Browns, and no losing with The Donald.

  1. Read my lips. No more budget deals with Mitchie Schumer and Ryan Pelosi.

  2. I remember Hue Jackson from his time at the Raiders. He talks the talk, but his teams don't walk the walk.

  3. Pssst. We're well over a year into this dumpster fire. "Only the best" members of this administration continue to bail or be fired. November is going to be sweet.

    1. Separating the sheep from the goats. In a Democrat Administration, the goats are cuckolds, so they can have use.

Trump has no use for them, so they go.

Market's up now that the Reds have said, we don't want no war.

And then there's the continuing resolution, as opposed to a budget. A budget is law, a resolution is a Congressional wish list.

Trump will make them wish they never pulled that one.

And, yes, November is going to be sweet.

      But not for you.

    1. Not a sellout.

Trump gets what he wants and the Whigs and Demos get the shaft.

  6. A lot of people think they can still win this.

Stormy turned into a drizzle last night, apparently.

    Same with this.

  7. If the Browns can’t become competitive the next couple of years with all their draft picks and seemingly good trades, they never will. I hope Chuckie Schumer has as much success as the Browns have had over the last decade.
