The 49-year-old children's crusade against guns

The media portrayed last weekend's protest demanding the government strip away our God-given right to keep and bear arms as a spontaneous high school demonstration. Beethoven's Fifth was never as well orchestrated as this event.

But in an attempt to be clever, the Washington Post let the truth slip. Most of these protesters were old hippies -- funded by billionaires.

"Contrary to what’s been reported in many media accounts, the D.C. March for Our Lives crowd was not primarily made up of teenagers. Only about 10 percent of the participants were under 18. The average age of the adults in the crowd was just under 49 years old, which is older than participants at the other marches I’ve surveyed but similar to the age of the average participant at the Million Moms March in 2000, which was also about gun control," the Post reported.

In other words, billionaires Mike Bloomberg and Oprah Winfrey used a few high school students as human shields for their attempt to strip America of a constitutional right.

I won't go into the hypocrisy of men and women who are protected by armed guards demanding that Americans not be allowed to defend themselves.

Or to hunt.

Or to shoot for sport.

But they are right. The protesters are children, who even in their 60s and 70s are still throwing temper tantrums over Americans elected Donald Trump as their president.

  1. The usual neurotic middle aged women and the males who want to clean out their cat box for them.

If they didn't have protests they wouldn't have a social life.

    1. Professional protesters. They may not know what they are against, but damnit, they are against it.

    2. This event was planned long before this shooting took place. No, these kids are totally not crisis actors, and all the events are totally unscripted... oh wait:

Why isn't that interesting! The March For Our Lives Demonstration got a permit months earlier. So much for being a spontaneous event driven by The Children!

  2. Yeah, Chris Plante was on this yesterday. Said that Camera Hogg (hat tip Rush) and his merry band of fascists all had "handlers." That's about as organic as Cap'n Crunch cereal. Yet another reminder that we must never, never, never give up against the Left. They're sick, they're power-mad, and they're not gonna stop.

    1. Chris Plante is always on it! I wish FNC would give him a show, or at least make him a regular substitute host for all their opinion programs.

  3. One of things I love about President Trump is that he does not accept the premise that all of the professional left's victories are permanent while all of ours are negotiable. The Bushes, the Doles, and Mittens all bought into the idea that the job of the GOP was to stand athwart history and yell: "A little slower, please. And maybe if it's not too much trouble, a little cheaper."

But not this POTUS. He fights. It is now the left's victories on immigration/border security, and ObamaCare, and more, that are open for further discussion, not just our side's few wins in the political and culture wars.

  4. The "children" haven't missed a opportunity to pitch a fit since the Sixties. I believe PJ O'Rourke calls them the Perpetually Indignant.

  5. It's pretty amazing to imagine the gullible lil' Trumpsters thinking the protesters are all on the payroll of George Soros. So many marches....must be a logistical nightmare to pay all those people. Of course billionaires funding things is a source of selective outrage. Not that the orange one himself ever funds anything, but he's probably not a billionaire either.

  6. You knew Parkland got co-opted when one of the kids admitted the democrats were helping them with their "message." I need a bunch of 17 and 18 year-olds making policy based on bad information and feelings like I need portion control advice from Michael Moore. I tell my kids they can help make decisions when they start knocking out the utilities or the mortgage...that's usually enough to get them to quiet down.

  7. The march last week in Sarasira, FL surprised me in the size (I'd guess a few thousand). But as a heterosexual 53 year old man, I didn't see one attractive female in the crowd as I rode my bike amongst the rif-raf. Glad I'm already married to a real old fashion woman

  9. I knew they were not serious in this protest when I noticed there were no giant paper-mache puppet heads.

Everybody knows that protest marches require giant paper-mache puppet heads.

And skinny bare-chested guys beating drums. Where where the drums, huh?

  10. the march was full of tired, old wannabe "hippies". Most of them are government employees and they don't see the inconsistencies between their stupid ideas about revolution and disruption, and their government pensions, benefits, and >$1M homes in Bethesda and Arlington. Their sense of entitlement and moral superiority is off the charts and they tend to be mainly off their hinges and extremely violent when their idiocy is explained to them. Lovely people

  11. Interesting comment at Althouse from a board member of several charitable orgs:

After the last Presidential election, and especially after the "Women's March" and the "March for Science," I noticed that a lot of the mailings became much more focused on planning activities to capitalize on news events. I usually delete these things as they arrive, but at least a couple were along the lines of "Do you have an action plan for the next mass shooting tragedy? Here are the top 5 steps for getting your organization ready to act!" In other words, this campaign was ready to go, long before the Parkland shooting. I'll start saving these as they land in my mailbox.

  12. Its was telling how indignant people got on Facebook when you mentioned nothing but adults had planned the events from the box lunches, permits, a/v and stage rental and that if none of this had been prepared in advance would any of the "kids" have bothered to show up? The butt hurt was epic when you pointed that out.
