Obama should apologize to Trump over Korea

Barack Obama's trademark was apologizing to world leaders. With so much practice, Obama should have no problem with apologizing to President Donald John Trump for handing over a nuclear capable North Korea.

Oh wait, Obama never apologizes for his mistakes. From not protesting Jeremiah Wright preaching in church that America (excuse me, "G-d damn America") deserved 9/11 to illegally spying on President Trump, Obama was the worst president ever.

But at least he'll go down as a president, as he said.

But long is the list of fools who were wrong about Korea.

"U.S. President Donald Trump's tweets about North Korea's Kim Jong Un are not helpful as tensions escalate on the peninsula, a former Obama administration official said on November 29," United Press International reported.

The exact words from Avril Haines, Obama's deputy national security advisor at the White House, were "I think the current scenario is one in which sort of the tweets and rhetorical back-and-forth have created perhaps an instability that could lead to a provocation that's unintended."

Only in Washington do people think words speak louder than action.

"While the Dotard in the United States and the Rocket Man in North Korea exchange escalating nuclear threats, many are wondering whether the criticisms of former president Barack Obama’s controversial deal with Iran were misguided. The measured, multilateral approach of Donald Trump’s predecessor may have left some unconvinced of Iranian compliance. However, the possibility of tough talk and bravado provoking not one, but two nuclear wars isn’t necessarily playing well on the global stage," Elvin Aghayev of the Independent International Political Research Center wrote.

While others predicted Trump would start World War 3, Aghayev had Trump starting World Wars 3 and 4.

"How hope of diplomacy with North Korea dwindled," the Associated Press reported on December 30.

Funny how the world's largest news gathering organization did not notice The Donald's diplomacy was not polite cave-ins to dictators behind closed doors that Democratic presidents do, but rather to confront and shame evil very publicly.

The result two months after the Associated Press wrote diplomacy off is the first direct talks between the Koreas since Rocket Man took over as tyrant in 2011.

And there is more.

"North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-un, has told South Korean envoys that his country is willing to begin negotiations with the United States on abandoning its nuclear weapons and that it would suspend all nuclear and missile tests while it is engaged in such talks, South Korean officials said on Tuesday," the New York Times reported.

"During the envoys’ two-day visit to Pyongyang, the North’s capital, which ended on Tuesday, the two Koreas also agreed to hold a summit meeting between Mr. Kim and President Moon Jae-in of South Korea on the countries’ border in late April, Mr. Moon’s office said in a statement."

President Trump is well on his way to doing what 12 presidents failed to do: end the Korean War. The cease-fire is in its 65th year, allowing the South to become a modern state with a thriving economy, while the North obtained nuclear weapons and intercontinental ballistic missiles.

The media chose to go to war with Donald John Trump in 2017 rather than accept him as president.

The media chose poorly.

Fake News Follies of 2017 shows how and why.

What readers are saying:

Rob Miller: "What we have here is nothing less than a detailed, well written chronicle of exactly how the American press abandoned all semblance of scruples and journalistic ethics once Donald J. Trump became president. Like Surber's other books, this one will have you laughing out loud and you will find it difficult to put down."

PSD: "Like his other books, it is written with wonderful wit filled insight, rare in political commentary today. The style is one of gentle humor and common sense. It is refreshingly devoid of malice and partisan contempt, easy reading with not a few laughs along the way."

rurallbob: "Another winner from Don Surber."

Richard: "Funny, well written and well organized, Fake News Follies is an entertaining and thoughtful look at the news coverage provided by the press to the American people. Clearly they are not playing it straight. Sure, the press makes mistakes. It's inevitable. But when the totality of news stories not hewing to the known facts is collected and presented as it is in this volume there is but one explanation. Fake News. Don Surber brings to the subject insight that only a veteran newsman could provide. I wish this book would be read by everyone but especially people opposed to Trump because I think it would be sufficient to challenge even a closed off worldview."

A. Brogden: "Unlike Kurtz 's book, Media Madness, which sought to justify and explain away the lies and prejudices of the anti-Trump MSM, Surber relentlessly and methodically documents the tsunami of BS the press has served up since the upset victory by President Trump. Almost without exception everything Trump has done as president has been distorted, mischaracterized, or flat out lied about for over a year. This is how you get 90% negative reporting. This is how you get the press with 28% trust ratings. And by God this is how you get eight years of Trump as President."

A Kindle reader: "Easy read, a great compilation of biased new coverage of Trump before and after the election. I started out anti Trump and reluctantly voted for him for one reason only, He was not Hillary. This book is a great reference when people claim the MSM is not biased and does not publish fake news. It reinforces Glenn Reynolds description of the press as Democrat operatives with bylines."

Fake News Follies of 2017 is available on Kindle and in paperback.

Autographed copies are available. Email me at DonSurber@GMail.com for details. I am including a "director's cut." I will give you the original Chapter 1 that I cut because while the chapter was amusing, it really had nothing to do with the Fake News Follies of 2017.

  1. Only In Washington, D.C., would anyone think a statement like this:

"I think the current scenario is one in which sort of the tweets and rhetorical back-and-forth have created perhaps an instability that could lead to a provocation that's unintended."

means anything to anyone. It is gobbledy-gook, mashed up mish-mush, verbal vaporing. There isn't a single thought or a firm phrase in that statement - it isn't even a statement it is just oral flatulence.

I'm not. Misguided is the wrong word. Stupid, bordering treasonous, seem MUCH more apt.

  3. You're forgetting that liberal discourse is largely a collecting pool of conceits. About the only thing they apologize for is insufficient deference to their mascots. Dianne Feinstein is the only liberal politician I can think of who is square enough to admit mistakes now and again.

  4. Some day - well, I already am - people will look back on the 2012 election and wonder, Now how in the HELL did that grinning monkey get elected AGAIN? I have no logical explanation just yet.

    2. Much prefer to have a president who FIGHTS -- rather than apologizes -- for America. Thank God for President Trump!

  5. But but but the Washington elite are so nuanced. That is why they are so much our betters. Hah.

  6. I'm sure Don is just joking here but I'll bite. In the first place Obama should be sorry for much but in his case he is most likely only sorry for not being more destructive than he was. Then the door to dictatorial splendor was wide open but he was too lazy to step through it.
Yet in all fairness to him although NK says it will talk now it has never actually changed course before and is unlikely to ever do so, although it could move more slowly I guess.
The corporate media and it's abject slaves the Democrats have become suffered the worst humiliation in world political history in 2016. To regain power the monster who engineered it must be destroyed. The longer he lives and prospers the weaker and more irrelevant they become.
Stalin never apologized for his pact with Hitler or the slaughter of millions of his countrymen only because his enemy was destroyed in the end, so he was never forced to do so. The Little Father is their role model for all time.
Yes, Trump's destruction is their salvation, or so they think.

    1. There is only one salvation; Donald Trump is not it. He is, however the best president we have had in the 40 years. He FIGHTS! Hurrah!

  7. As a public servant, the recipient of any apologies (if merited) would be the American people. It's revealing that the weak men drawn to an authoritarian con man need others to worship him as well. So deluded are these weak men, that they absurdly claim that turning to twitter is somehow calculated in this dumpster fire White House (with daily departures, leaks, and a great many indictments to come). So much winning.

  8. You know, I've got no problem with Obama criticizing President Trump. Obama is a left-wing Democrat party operative hack. He is who he is and, at his age, he's not going to change.

What I will never forgive is the stream of attacks against this very successful president by the failure W-Bush. No one from the Bush Family has ever criticized a Clinton or an Obama. We were told it was because they were "gentlemen." Fat chance. They're partisan hacks, too, just unprincipled ones. Obama at least stays true to his principles, such as they are, through his continual hackery.
