Ending California's raid on congressional seats

The number of seats in the House of Representatives a state has is based on its population. But California cheats. Its population includes 2.5 million illegal aliens, which adds at least three congressmen to its total of 53.

President Trump is cracking down on that, and the howling has begun.

"The U.S. Commerce Department announced late Monday that it will restore a question about citizenship to the 2020 census questionnaire," NPR reported.

"In an eight-page memo Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross says the Justice Department has requested that the census ask who is a citizen in order to help determine possible violations of the Voting Rights Act, to help enforce that law."

Are you a legal resident?

Sounds simple.

Any sane nation would ask that question in a census.

"A lot of census watchers, former census bureau directors, other census experts have said that they are very, very concerned that there already is a lot of anti-immigrant sentiment, that already folks are very concerned about giving personal information to the federal government, that now if there is a citizenship question added as the Commerce Department is announcing that a lot of immigrants, not only those who are undocumented, but anyone who maybe has ties to folks who are undocumented, may not want to participate in the census and therefore they would not be counted, and that has direct impacts on how people are represented in this country," NPR's Hansi Lo Wang.

Anti-immigrant sentiment?

Where does that come from?

And why would a person here legally not respond? You are supposed to carry your papers with you at all times.

But the Left has to lie because there is no justification for using illegal aliens to get three more congressmen than you should be entitled to.

West Virginia is on the cusp of losing a congressional seat after the 2020 Census. Only 0.2% of its population is these cheaters -- the lowest percent in the nation.

California likely will add. Cheating pays in politics.

President Trump will end this cheating.

UPDATE: California is suing to stop Trump from doing what was done in past censuses.

I overlooked the obvious: This gives California 55 Electoral College votes instead of 52. It's like adding another state to California's total.

  1. President Trump...will....end...the...cheating? Now I've got to get my irony meter recalibrated. "Cheating" would be a word Trumpsters might avoid. Penalties might include spankings with a rolled up copy of Forbes magazine.

    1. "Cheating" is also not necessarily a word that one of Hillary slutboy's would want to broadcast.

    2. Why?

The Demos put up 7 million fraudulent votes in the last election.

Or maybe he means Miss Stormy, who was denying anything happened as late as the end of January.

    3. HiLlARy proved the old adage winners never cheat and cheaters never win. She, not President Trump received donations from Russia. Her people created the faux pee dossier. Her husband is a proven serial rapist. Her Assistant is married to a pervert who sexts under age girls.
She didn't succeed in cheating her way to the White House because there was a massive ground swell of opposition to offset the idiots who voted for her and the fraudsters who propped her near death campaign up.
Maybe we should call her the slinky girl. She is useless. She serves no genuine purpose, but watching her nearly fall down those steps in India did bring a smile to my face.

  2. Don't just ask for their citizenship status. Make them prove it. Armed with tips and reports from the army of census takers, ICE should be able to do a pretty thorough housecleaning of illegal aliens. If they won't self-deport we could use an efficient system of finding them. - Elric

    1. Amen Anon: talk is cheap. Unequivocal proof of citizenship AKA a birth certificate for each and every household member. My mother worked part-time for the 1960 Census in Michigan and I remember going with her where she went to EVERY house in the countryside and knocked on the door and interviewed the occupants, detailing in a ledger everyone's data. I do not believe birth certificates were required, but I doubt there was much illegal immigration back then. Illegal invaders are interfering in America's electoral process more than any Russians have.

    2. I found old census records from the 1920s and 1930s online. They have my grandparents' households down pat. That's what a census is all about. Accountability. Elric

  3. California’s illegals population is probably closer to 5 million minimum. Assuming 30 million illegals nationally is probably an undercount, but even that is 10% of the House of Reps. Mostly Dem states/Dem cities.

I’m with Elric. They should be required to show ID. And ICE should follow up. And those ICE consequences should be widely publicized. The Dems should be losing a LOT of allotted seats.

  6. Note Obama's favorite condescending (or socialist) term for the populace: "folk". Folk are quaint, undereducated, and unthreatening masses, easily led. "Citizens" are not. He called 'em like he saw 'em.

  7. This also counts for electoral college votes.

  8. The question was asked up until 1950. I am glad they will bring it back. Also, is a census of our citizens. Visitors don't count, nor should illegals and interlopers.

  9. NOT Are you a legal resident...
    Are you a US CITIZEN.
Also IIRC, the representatives are alocated by population with no distinction made as to status so an illegal alien counts the same as a legal resident counts the same as a citizen.
This needs a new law or a new court ruling or maybe an ammendment to add "of citizens" where the constitution speaks of allocation based on population.

  13. "are you a legal resident?"

Ought to ALSO be asking, "are you a US Citizen?"

LEGAL foreign nationals shouldn't be getting counted for any federal funding OR for determining Congressional District allotment.

  14. Ahh, just make em recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Anybody who can't, can't vote. And if that means a few citizens are drug into it too, sux ta be you.

  15. Citizens ONLY when it comes to representation and voting, citizens ONLY!

  16. Sorry, but your argument that illegals should not add to congressional power does not pass Constitutional muster.

For example the whole story of the three-fifths compromise in the original Constitution was based on a debate over counting non-citizens in congressional representation.

It is settled case law that a Congressman represents all the people living in his/her district, not just citizens.

    1. You are correct, which will disappoint many here; but finding out exactly how many illegals are here would make wonderful news!

Of course, as Iowahawk points out, "Journalism is about covering important stories. With a pillow, until they stop moving."

So don't expect to see these revealing numbers on CNN or read about them in the LA Times!
