The Wall rises

The Associated Press had good news for America. The wall is rising.

The Wall won't look like this. It should.

"The federal government began work Wednesday to replace a section of border wall in California, the first wall contract awarded in the Trump administration outside of eight prototypes that were built last year in San Diego," the news service reported.

"Customs and Border Protection is replacing a little more than two miles in downtown Calexico, a sliver of the president's plan for a big, beautiful wall with Mexico. A barrier built in the 1990s from recycled metal scraps and landing mat will be torn down for bollard-style posts that are 30 feet high, significantly taller than existing walls."

The wall built in the 1990s worked.

So many Mexicans were jumping the border that California put signs along the freeways warning drivers that illegal aliens were crossing.

The "Illegal Aliens Crossing" signs are gone now.

"In 1986, the San Diego sector recorded its highest number of border crossing apprehensions in a year: 628,000, according to Department of Homeland Security statistics. The area — geographically the smallest for Border Patrol — was once the busiest sector for illegal immigration in the U.S., accounting for more than 40% of nationwide apprehensions in the early ’90s," the Los Angeles Times reported last July.

"In fiscal year 2016, Border Patrol agents apprehended 31,891 people in the San Diego sector suspected of crossing the U.S.-Mexico border illegally."

That is a 95% drop.

We can do this.

And thanks to Donald Trump, we are.

From Leslie Eastman's review at Legal Insurrection:
Surber, a recovering journalist with over 30 years of experience, has been cataloging the #FakeNews that has been regularly offered as serious analysis of President Donald Trump’s actions, policies, and opinions. He has brought his enormous collection together in the longest, most serious book he has yet written: Fake News Follies of 2017.
Fake News Follies of 2017 is available on Kindle and in paperback.

Autographed copies are available. Email me at for details. I am including a "director's cut." I will give you the original Chapter 1 that I cut because while the chapter was amusing, it really had nothing to do with the Fake News Follies of 2017.

  1. MAGA thanks to a man of action, not a man of hot air.

  2. I really thougt you would lead today with Lindsay Vonn. 😡

  3. Saw that.

He prototyped, tested it (with Rangers, guys trained to get in), and now he builds.

That's how business gets things done.

  4. Gonna be so cool when Chinese tourists start taking photos of the REAL Great Wall.

  5. If someone advocacy group wanted to protest the building of the wall, and went down near where it is being constructed, and starting singing:

    "We don't need no education
"We don't need no thought control
"No dark sarcasm in the classroom
    "Teacher leave them kids alone."

I would actually be somewhat supportive. Even though the cause is wrong and Roger Waters is a filthy stinkin' anti-Semitic Joo-hatin' piece o' feces.

  6. There is no reason why The Wall can't be a work of art. Of course, its primary purpose is functionality, but we can throw in a few tourist traps and name it the Taj MaWall. - Elric

  7. Catch and release must stop. Do we have laws? Get caught and go automatically to jail and wait there for deportation and fine and/or 30 days.
