Tax reform means a Mexican truck plant will move to Michigan

Fiat Chrysler is relocating its Ram Heavy Duty truck manufacturing from Saltillo, Mexico, to Michigan following passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.

Another 2,500 of those jobs that Barack Obama said are not coming back are.

John Beavers of Belfair, Washington.

From CNBC:
Fiat Chrysler announced Thursday that it will up its investment in the United States and pay some of its employees special bonuses after the recent tax code overhaul.
CEO Sergio Marchionne said in a statement that these announcements reflect the company's ongoing commitment to manufacturing in the U.S. He also cited the recently signed tax bill as an opportunity to share the savings with Fiat Chrysler employees.
The plant will cost $1 billion and employ 2,500 workers when it opens in 2020.

Meanwhile, 60,000 Chrysler workers will get $2,000 bonuses.

From the Detroit Free Press:
"These announcements reflect our ongoing commitment to our U.S. manufacturing footprint and the dedicated employees who have contributed to FCA's success," Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne said in a news release. "It is only proper that our employees share in the savings generated by tax reform and that we openly acknowledge the resulting improvement in the U.S. business environment by investing in our industrial footprint accordingly."
Not one Democrat voted for the tax cuts.

Not one.

But hey, experts say Republicans will get their ass kicked in the midterm elections in November.

Please enjoy my two books about the press and how it missed the rise of Donald Trump.

The first was "Trump the Press," which covered his nomination.

The second was "Trump the Establishment," which covered his election.

  1. What would we do without experts?

  2. “Vote for us Dems and lose your tax cut and/or your job”

    Hmmm ... needs work.

    1. +1

"Too much prosperity for ya, vote democrat!"

We've got all kinds of material to work with...

  3. This isn't just being pro-American. Fiat/Chrysler is getting ahead of the 25% tariffs that PDT will impose when he brooms NAFTA.

  4. But, but THE WON told us those jobs were never coming back.

    1. (Whisper from the darkness)
      He lieedddddddddddddddd.

  5. They just upped the ante with $2000 bonuses. Keep it coming. Workers win. America wins. Liberals lose.

  6. A few years back I noticed a billboard complaining about how Michigan elected a Republican governor only to get cuts in state corporate taxes. The billboard is gone and Michigan still has a Republican governor.

    And now this.

Do you really have to be a brain dead moron to be a Democrat?

    1. No.

You need to be unskilled, lazy, and not interested in learning any sort of marketable skill.

Then you pound your fist in the air and "resist" by voting in Dems that will get you free health care, housing, financial assistance and whatever.

The sad thing is that what is wonderful about being alive is the chance all people in America have to learn something, get good at it, make a living at it, constantly become better at it, and branch out to learn and accomplish in other areas as well.
That feeling of growing and achieving is lost on so many - and they're the ones that vote Democrat.

    2. "Do you really have to be a brain dead moron to be a Democrat?"

      I'm thinking... I'm thinking!!
      There MIGHT be a counter-example....

  7. I know it's more of the same, but could you imagine the MSM if companies and the economy were doing this under a democrat president. You'd want the economy to suffer just to get them to shut up.

  8. America's "Rust Belt" was caused by electing too many Democrats.

  9. Does Oprahs self serving hypocritical Trump bashing speech qualify her for the Trump effect?
Oprah's home suffers 'minor damage' from Southern California mudslides

'Minor damage' is in quotes for a reason. The damage while not catastrophe is considerable.

  10. Unfortunately, there is very little reporting of the very many bonuses and raises, all as a direct result of Trump's tax bill. If people won't hear about it, its not going to effect their vote. We need to be very concerned for a GOP wipeout come November. The huge benefits of the tax bill need to be somehow pressed home, again and again.
