Trump winning -- Willett ever end?

President Trump set the rookie record for the most appellate judge appointments in a new president's first year in office. Already, he has gotten the Senate to confirm nine, shattering Reagan's record of eight.

With six weeks left until the anniversary of his election, Trump has another nine nominees awaiting Senate approval. That includes Justice Don Willett of Texas, whose tweets have delighted followers for some time.

On Thursday, the judiciary committee approved three nominations.

From the Washington Examiner:
The full Senate will now consider the nominations of Steven Grasz of Nebraska to the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals, and Texans James C. Ho, and Don Willett to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. The committee voted 11-9 along partisan lines to pass them out of committee.
Al Franken took time out from his lengthy resignation process to vote against the three judges.

They did not meet the high standards of the Senate's answer to Anthony Weiner.

Democrats are not happy with the pace of the committee.

From the Hill:
Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee chastised their Republican colleagues on Thursday, accusing them of rushing President Trump’s judicial nominees through the  confirmation process.
Ranking member Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said it was the fastest confirmation pace for circuit court nominees she could remember in her 25 years on the committee.
“I want to point out that it’s a marked contrast to the traditional rate of confirmations,” she said. “For example, last week marked the fourth hearing since May when two circuit court nominees were on the agenda the same day. That’s four times in six months, yet this committee only held three hearings with two circuit court nominees in all eight years of the Obama administration.”
Democrats controlled the committee for the first six of those eight years -- and Republicans deliberately slowed the process to allow the next president to nominate more judges.

And that is being done.

Please enjoy my two books about the press and how it missed the rise of Donald Trump.

The first was "Trump the Press," which covered his nomination.

The second was "Trump the Establishment," which covered his election.

    1. This morning on 'Fox & Friends', attorney Alan Dershowitz noted that he has been on what he referred to as the "Donald Trump Diet". Since he has been showing up on talk shows discussing laws and the Constitution, his liberal friends have stopped inviting him to dinner parties. Mr. Dershowitz has recently lost 7 pounds.

    2. Longer than that. It'll take a generation to rid ourselves of the cockroaches from our school houses, universities, entertainment, local, county, state and federal governments.

  3. Speaking of Judges.....

Yesterday the judge overseeing the case of former national security adviser Michael Flynn recused himself.

This came right after Director Wray, following Jeff Sessions a week or so ago, did everything they could to not start laughing and give the game away during their testimony to the House Judiciary Committee.

It's becoming so obvious that the Dems are throwing a hail mary hoping that President Trump will resign over sexual misconduct the next week or two. Not going to happen, of course.

Get some popcorn and sit down with your children and grandchildren to watch what unravels over the next few months. A civics lesson is about to be given, as the USA comes from the precipice of a banana republic back to the greatest country in the history of he world by once again respecting its laws.

    1. Note that U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia Judge Rudolph Contreras is also a member of the FISA court.

The only question remaining is which team Robert Mueller is playing on - the Good Guys or the Bad Guys. Curious to watch. But the outcome will be the same either way.

  5. Somebody remind Dianne Feinstein that in 2016 she was bitching about the slow pace of confirmations. ;-)

  7. Makes me VERY glad the Reps were slowing down judges with empty-O in office; and even more glad they're going thru now.
