Weinstein was a warning to Hillary

I have not commented on the Vegas massacre because I cannot add much to the discussion. The call for gun control is rote. Reflexive. It fell upon Jimmy Kimmel to deliver the stale call to strip handguns from granny.

But the New York Times switched subjects by dumping on Harvey Weinstein, a repugnant Hollywood producer who in a tradition pre-dating Hollywood had a casting couch. They made films in New Jersey before they moved to Hollywood. Bedding beauties was a perk.

An entitlement.

Hold that thought.

The Weinstein piece did not come out of nowhere. The Times ran it after watering down a similar piece a decade ago (according to the reporter who wrote it, Sharon Waxman).

One reader suggested this was part of a communist purge of the old regime.

Well, a new set of younger and more militant Marxists awaits us. Inspired by Barack Obama, they feel entitled by their race or sex. Kamala Harris has both black privilege and female privilege.

But Weinstein felt privileged as well. You want in the movie, sweetie?

There are plenty of women who do. The Times reported only on the few who said no. His company paid them off -- $80,000 to $150,000 each to settle their nuisance lawsuits. You don't spend that kind of money on a tactic that does not work.

As the star of "Celebrity Apprentice" once said, if you are a star or a billionaire, women let you grab them...

They do, but someone is keeping score.

Guys like Weinstein think they get away with it.

But people notice, and as the settled lawsuits pile up they become deadly. Roger Ailes and Bill O'Reilly drank their self-brewed poison after the Murdoch brothers took over Fox News.

Now it is Weinstein's time to pay for years of abuse. Privilege. Entitlement.

One of the two names on the byline in the Times hit piece was Megan Twohey. She was part of that botched hit piece on Trump in May 2016, “Crossing the Line: Trump’s Private Conduct with Women.” He dated beautiful women when he was single. Shocking.

Camille Paglia said of it:
The drums had been beating for weeks about a major New York Times expose in the works that would demolish Trump once and for all by revealing his sordid lifetime of misogyny. When it finally appeared as a splashy front-page story this past Sunday (originally titled “Crossing the Line: Trump’s Private Conduct with Women”), I was off in the woods pursuing my Native American research. On Monday, after seeing countless exultant references to this virtuoso takedown, I finally read the article—and laughed out loud throughout. Can there be any finer demonstration of the insularity and mediocrity of today’s Manhattan prestige media? Wow, millionaire workaholic Donald Trump chased young, beautiful, willing women and liked to boast about it. Jail him now! Meanwhile, the New York Times remains mute about Bill Clinton’s long record of crude groping and grosser assaults—not one example of which could be found to taint Trump.
Blame for this fiasco falls squarely upon the New York Times editors who delegated to two far too young journalists, Michael Barbaro and Megan Twohey, the complex task of probing the glitzy, exhibitionistic world of late-twentieth-century beauty pageants, gambling casinos, strip clubs, and luxury resorts. Neither Barbaro, a 2002 graduate of Yale, nor Twohey, a 1998 graduate of Georgetown University, had any frame of reference for sexual analysis aside from the rote political correctness that has saturated elite American campuses for nearly 40 years. Their prim, priggish formulations in this awkwardly disconnected article demonstrate the embarrassing lack of sophistication that passes for theoretical expertise among their over-paid and under-educated professors.
Twohey did better this time.

The target was bigger and the sources were familiar to the Times. Not the people quoted. The people who peddled this to the Times aren't in the story.

But Clinton is. The Times prominently displayed a picture of her and Weinstein at a fund-raiser.

Why bring her in?

Because she blew the biggest race since the Tortoise and the Hare. More than $1.2 billion was riding on her.

Now the donors are pissed. And she is on her book tour playing victim.

Hillary felt entitled to be president. Look at it from her perspective.

She went dateless at Wellesley to be valedictorian. She played first lady to those yahoos in Arkansas for a couple of decades, then was humiliated in the White House, humiliated in the 2008 primaries, and forced to play secretary of state for the black man who had refused to wait his turn to be president.

The Hare was entitled dammit. It was not fair, it was not fair, it was not fair.

Life ain't fair.

But she won't go away. Her ears are made of tin. Bad tin at that. Dented tin.

However, the Times made Weinstein go away. Perhaps it is a warning to Hillary to go gentle into that last good night politically.

Because if the Times can make a Hollywood mogul's own company fire him for acting like a Hollywood mogul, you wonder what the Times could do to a woman it has covered up for since 1992.

Surely the Times reporters have covered her long enough to know the names of the skeletons in her closet.

By the way, she wants to run in 2020. That's what this All Excuses tour is about. Even as she screamed into the pillow on Election Night, she began plotting her comeback. She wants a do-over. Third time's the charm, and all that.

If she does run again, the end will not be pretty because you know who the Marxists and the Democratic Party blame for Donald Trump's election?

Hillary Clinton.

Not the Russians. Not Jim Comey. Not Tony Weiner. Not Fake News. Not Fox News.

Hillary Clinton.

She was warned this week.

  1. Not just dented tin, Don, but corroded and rusted tin. I think that's what happens when tin is pickled in Chardonnay and Stoly for decades on end.

  3. The most interesting and insightful opinion article on what happened in this Weinstein case. Speculative, sure.

But the view from Poca seems a lot clearer than the haze that surrounds NYC and LA.

    1. Agree.

One reason the Dems cannot get traction is because every time they look up, there is Hillary on TV selling a book, finding more unfair reasons why she lost, and/or making outrageous statements about firearms or race or laws that are simply not true. I'd heard 2 weeks before it happened that high-level Dems were mad about her upcoming book tour. If you'll notice, none of the biggies - Bernie, Harris, Warren, Booker, Shumer, Pelosi, Perez, Ellison, even Mad Max and others - have taken any supporting stands over her comments on anything. In fact, when she talks, they become mute as none of them want to be associated with her in any way (shortly after we saw the united rollout of Bernie's 'Medicare For All' Hillary chimed in and that's the last we've heard of it since).

Don hit it on the head. Let's see if other influential Dem MSM outlets do the backdoor thing as well. 2018 is around the corner, and the Dems know they are in enough trouble as it is.

  4. He was a heavy donor; now he couldn't give cash to a homeless person because of the negative association. Yup, the powers that be are letting Shrillary know that if she tries to run again in 2020 they'll take out every one of her donors by any means necessary. This last go around she Hoovered up the rich money bags so nobody else had a chance. Bernie had mostly small donations. That won't happen again.

I dunno, Don. I've often thought Slick Willie and the Wicked Bitch probably only had sex once in their marriage when Little Hillary was conceived.

  7. If she runs again she'll see what it's like to have Both the media and her party against her.

Kind'a like President Trump when he was running.

Unfortunately for her, Trump's supporters are conservative patriots first (Republican and Democrat) whereas her supporters are rabid, leftist, democrat, communists.

And there are a lot more conservative patriots out there than rabid, leftist, defacrat, communists.

  13. I agree. This is the Democrat Party primary going on right now, between Hillary and Not Hillary.

By the time the first 2020 primary rolls around and before a single vote is cast the Democrat Establishment will have already picked their candidate (most likely Kamala Harris). The Democrat voters will simply ratify the decision.

  15. Don, you see it exactly the way I do- Weinstein is a proxy target for Hillary Clinton. She won't listen to the warning.

    ReplyDelete
  16. They don't have to "warn" Hillary off. She's doing herself in.

She has morphed into a cranky grandma figure all on her own with her blame tour and the "I screamed into my pillow" interviews.

She's not going to get younger in the next 3 years, either. By 2020, she'll be more like Judy Dench in that Queen Victoria movie than the Hillary of 2008--back when she was at her best.
