The rest of the "Trump Is a Moron" story

I probably should save this for my next book, but I find the whole tale to be so delightful that I cannot wait to comment.

NBC reported, "Tillerson’s Fury at Trump Required an Intervention From Pence."

The story had a quadruple byline -- Carol E. Lee, Kristen Welker, Stephanie Ruhle and Dafna Linzer -- which under the Howie Carr Rule increases the odds of it being Fake News.

The source of the story -- "senior administration officials who were aware of the situation at the time" -- also increases the odds of it being Fake News.

Remember what President Trump said: the leaks are real, the news is fake.

Which means that you should not take the story at face value.

From NBC News:
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was on the verge of resigning this past summer amid mounting policy disputes and clashes with the White House, according to senior administration officials who were aware of the situation at the time.
The tensions came to a head around the time President Donald Trump delivered a politicized speech in late July to the Boy Scouts of America, an organization Tillerson once led, the officials said.
Just days earlier, Tillerson had openly disparaged the president, referring to him as a “moron,” after a July 20 meeting at the Pentagon with members of Trump’s national security team and Cabinet officials, according to three officials familiar with the incident.
That sounds plausible. Tillerson is an Eagle Scout and served as national president of the Boy Scouts from 2010 to 2012.

I can see where he might not have liked Trump's speech.

And Tillerson issued a non-denial denial.
In an unscheduled statement to reporters Wednesday morning, Tillerson directly addressed that version of events, saying, "I have never considered leaving this post."
He praised Trump's foreign policy agenda, saying he was part of a team to "make America great again." But he did not deny calling the president a "moron," declining to address that remark directly and saying, "I'm not going to deal with petty stuff like that."
So why is this news now?

Tillerson is the secretary of state. We are in a pivotal moment in negotiations with North Korea. Trump and Tillerson are playing good cop, bad cop.

Trump is the bad cop.

This is not eighth dimensional chess. I reject the notion that President Trump is a wizard.

But he is a businessman who loves to wheel and deal, and that is what he is doing.

Does Tillerson think Trump is a moron?

No. Tillerson would not have left Exxon to work for a moron.

But the leak serves President Trump's purpose to have Kim Jong Un think there is a rift.

It's called negotiation in business.

Diplomacy in politics.

  1. Yep and the MSM took the bait
    Almost like chumming Carp and
    fishing with an M-80..

  2. Love your take on the Tillerson flap. In my post on the same topic I noted, "As sweet as their lies (MSM) may taste to them, they cannot mask the authentic progress the Trump Administration has made."

  3. i'm not on board with this theory. T probably said something pretty bad in a moment of anger and regretted it. He may have even apologized for it to trump in private sometime ago. But the wouldn't want to go out like a fool, especially as the economy is getting better and Trump has some good people around him like Kelly and Mc Masters who do not think he is a moron, but realize he needs technical help to run a machine he is unfamiliar with. Trump now has T by the short hairs now though true lies or not

    1. I would not be surprised that big stakes players, big dogs in their own business spheres, such as Trump and Tillerson will say things. I expect that.

The lesson is from the cooperation between the American and British during WWII in Europe. Big egos? Difference in objectives? International rivalries? Interservice rivalries? Yes to all.

Did that stop things from functioning? In the end - no. Disagreements, even vocal disagreements, do not mean anything else.

Thus I have acquired and try to retain a skepticism about *anything* being reported these days.

    2. it doesn't seem like anything we read today or ever as having happened can or will be verifiable. The term Moron just does not sound like a word T would ever use. It is unimportant anyway.
Next up will be the bunker suicide pact by the Fuhrer's generals reported today, probably another lie.

    3. The term Moron and Moronette (or just 'ette) is a badge of honor for the Horde at Ace of Spades HQ.

So I have said "a moron - just not one of the good ones" to differentiate. Though I doubt either Tillerson or Trump would know that little distinction. ahem.

  4. Now Kelly was supposed to be thrown of AF1and he is quitting...

  5. I love how your brain works, Don. When can I get book #3?

  6. Depends on AT&T divesting CNN. Seriously

    1. Hmmm...must ponder. Well Big D, alls I can say is that you've graced us with two modern-day classics, and anything more will be gravy. Good ol homemade gravy. Sausage gravy. Yum.

    2. Save for my dear old friend, and confidante, Mademoiselle Kiity. Sir Paul, Rock Show. I think what Big D is signaling is that he's about to Go Corporate. Hahaha! I've met the guy. He is as far away from John Kasich as anyone you could imagine. I think he's changing his internet provider.

  7. Don,, having spent most of your life as a journalist I am sure that you know what "journalistic integrity" is/was. It must make you feel kind of sad, at times, to see these "fools" who pass themselves off as modern "journalists" but don't even know what the term means.

There is a local paper in Eastern Maine, the Bangor Daily News, that has been published for over 100 years and has NO competition at all. I have read this paper for over 50 years and have watched it slide into irrelevancy. It used to bring much information and pleasure to around 75,000 loyal readers a it is the local propaganda rag for the Leftist party!

The President of the company announced the layoff of 5 more people yesterday, can't be many left now, journalism has disappeared from the scene, replaced by "cut and paste" from the WaPoo and other garbage pails.

In his diatribe he says they are looking for ideas for expansion??? Then goes on to say this:

......"Today, providing solutions-based journalism to significant problems plaguing Maine and connecting Mainers who wish to join in supporting those solutions is more important than ever"......

I have been trying to figure out what he means there...for 12 hours now....and have no hint, not even a clue. Just seems to be more leftist gobbledygook to me. Lots of words that say nothing. I had a prof my freshman year who would get on us for using too many words. I wonder what he would think of that statement.

This is what passes for "journalistic insight" in my part of the world today!

Featherheads that don't have the slightest clue what the job really is supposed to be.

  8. Why do ALL the reports ignore what Tillerson said:
"Let me tell you what I’ve learned about this President, whom I did not know before taking this office. He loves his country. He puts Americans and America first. He’s smart...."

  9. Trump was known to troll New York media all of his adult life.

  10. It's also possible, Don, that the incident, if it happened, was simply an example of two passionate guys having a disagreement.

  11. Just as Trump said Tillerson was wasting his time.

Bad Cop, Good Cop/ Good Cop Bad Cop. Shhhh.

  12. This is definitely one of your better Bahgdad Bob spins Don. Trump is okay with one of his subordinates calling him "moron" so that North Korea is kept guessing. No wonder this country is in a tailspin.
Don - at least you have a billionaire Republican governor righting the W.Va. ship. Voting "yes" on the road bond?
