Alec Baldwin regrets portraying Trump

After more than a year of mocking President Trump on SNL, it finally dawned on Alec Baldwin that this isn't working. He cannot Palinize the man.

Duh.

President Trump is enjoying his life. Baldwin does not seem to happy with his.

Baldwin sought advice from Bernie Sanders.
BALDWIN: "In terms of Trump, do you think we’re making him kind of little too cuddly and little too funny, and we’re taking people’s mind off something really more serious?”
SANDERS: "What we have to focus on [with] Trump is what he is doing. Every day, he says something absurd."
I remember when losers were gracious.

I also remember when SNL's satire was effective because the cast was smart enough to pretend to be evenhanded.

The jokester has become the joke.

Hahahahaha.

  1. Baldwin is pestilential. But, facts are facts.....get tangled up with Trump....best be bringing a tub of lube. Trump never forgets.

Bernie sold out for a really nice house, so they say. You know what....that must really rankle....being "Clintonised". But, he hasn't been killed yet.

  2. SANDERS: "What we have to focus on [with] Trump is what he is doing. Every day, he says something absurd."

President Trump is a master of the magicians trick of getting people to concentrate on what they want to see, but not what is going on. He eats up the libs constituency of uncritical thinking masses better then the libs leaders.

On the other hand, Senator Sanders says absurd things every day, but 10 years old's can see through him. (He da Candy Man selling dreams.) Fortunately, at this time Senator Sanders has no power to do anything he really wants to do.

    And he never will.

  3. When the joke runs dry, Mr Baldwin and Joy Behar can do a remake of the "Hazel" TV show.

  6. Baldwin has talent, but unfortunately he is not very brave. He wants to stay rich and wallow in the obsequious servitude the subsidized poor provides the rich in NYC.
Sanders is just another grifter like Bill and H. In fact they are his idols, just as they were the Obamas. Influence at the highest level in return for harvest moon high piles of cash, and tax free too. Indeed this is the single reason Trump is despised and feared. He can't be bribed by the dreck who hate him.

  7. Late-night TV, SNL, pro football, ESPN, etc., haven't missed them a bit. You know how many books I've read, games I've played with the kids, how good my yard looks,...

  9. Baldwin is a tool.

SNL used to be funny, but took satire to it's extreme and ultimately failed by becoming mainstream left.

  11. Comedy that takes itself too seriously fails. You forget the comedy and stress your self-importance. SNL is not even satire. It is ad hominem because it cannot "argue" ideas. I am right and you are wrong is not an argument. Distortion of reality is not satire; it is a lie. You can deal with serious issues with comedy. Look at Lysistrata. It is very funny but when you look at what Aristophanes has done, he has used comedy as the obverse of tragedy -- you laugh so you won't cry. He offers an absurd solution to an intractable problem and you know it won't work, but the way it is done allows you to enjoy the possibility before rejecting it. SNL preaches to the converted and what a lot of boring and humorless holier-than-thous they are. They rely on talking points, and also rely on people not knowing the real situations they distort and the lies they pass off as facts. Eventually reality creeps in and they lose their audience they once had and are left with the the flagellants.

  13. I sorry but is SNL still on? not old used up reruns? It has been a very long time since they had any credibility or integrity that's why I thought they had been terminated for stupidity.

  14. SNL has enjoyed its best ratings in years thanks to Baldwin. But yea, regrets abound, not polite to make fun of the mentally ill. Pray for Mike Pence, he'll be our CiC soon.

  15. Once in a restaurant with my sons one asked who was singing over the sound system. I said it was either Frank Sinatra or someone doing a very bad imitation of Sinatra. It was Sinatra, of course.
Just like Trump he spent so long in the public eye that no imitation no matter how well worked out could touch him. Think about all those imitators and cartoons about Clark Gable. Any effect on what you thought of him? Nope. Was anyone's mind changed about Nixon? A menu like Palin could be had because people knew so little and the narrative was still so heavily controlled that the lies stuck. Any more things are going to sneak up on the elites because people will become known to the commoner before the elites even become aware.

  16. Baldwin was offered Patriot Games back in the day - after his successful portrayal of Jack Ryan in Clancy's "The Hunt For Red October". He wanted too much money, so they offered the role to Harrison Ford (a better actor) and that was the beginning of Baldwin's "B" movie foray. What else did he do? Not much.

So how do you resurrect a failing career if you are no longer attractive and young, and don't have a lot of talent? You get attention by leftist politics which draws the YAYs from the usual crowd.

What Baldwin is depressed about is that the gig is almost up - and while he was after Trump, he was (as always) in this for himself. And now he will have nothing.

    As it should be.
