Wiretapped nation

When President Trump complained the Obama administration wiretapped him, the press mocked him -- even though the New York Times had reported that very thing, even saying in a headline Obama wiretapped Trump.

But as suspected, he was not alone. The Obama administration spied on everyone in the name of national security.

In Obama's America, everyone is suspected of colluding with the Russians until proven innocent.

From the Hill:
The National Security Agency and Federal Bureau of Investigation violated specific civil liberty protections during the Obama years by improperly searching and disseminating raw intelligence on Americans or failing to promptly delete unauthorized intercepts, according to newly declassified memos that provide some of the richest detail to date on the spy agencies’ ability to obey their own rules.
The memos reviewed by The Hill were publicly released on July 11 through Freedom of Information Act litigation by the American Civil Liberties Union.
They detail specific violations that the NSA or FBI disclosed to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court or the Justice Department's national security division during President Obama’s tenure between 2009 and 2016. The intelligence community isn't due to report on compliance issues for 2017, the first year under the Trump administration, until next spring.
The NSA says that the missteps amount to a small number — less than 1 percent — when compared to the hundreds of thousands of specific phone numbers and email addresses the agencies intercepted through the so-called Section 702 warrantless spying program created by Congress in late 2008.
Warrantless.

That means unconstitutional.

"Less than 1 percent" means what? Not even one person was supposed to be subjected to "missteps." That's why we bothered having a Bill of Rights.

Dump this program.

The safeguards are non-existent.

And then prosecute everyone who did this to the American people.

Pronto.

  1. If the Obama Administration bugged everyone, that could well include a lot of people in the MSM.

An enquiry into such would probably need to have a lot of that stuff read into the record.

    Wouldn't that be fun?

  2. From the Web page of the US House Select Committee on Intelligence, here are the lies being fed to Americans:

ALLEGATION: The NSA can engage in warrantless spying on Americans under Section 702 because it is simply required to demonstrate that the spying is needed to acquire “foreign intelligence information.” This could justify virtually any spying, including spying on communications transmitted by journalists or activists. This isn’t primarily a counter-terror authority, but rather a broad spying authority.

 TRUTH: Section 702 authority has not been used and may not be used to target Americans for surveillance, including the communications of journalists or activists. Doing so would be illegal and no such violations have occurred.

ALLEGATION: The FISA Court does not serve as effective oversight.

 TRUTH: The FISA court, comprising highly-respected federal judges, approves and supervises Section 702 activity. An independent amicus ensures that significant cases include the benefit of an independent point of view. The FISA Court of Review and the Supreme Court serve as further checks, as do Congressional oversight committees and the Inspectors General.

    1. And by lies, I mean the politicians and the Deep State are lying to us, as the latest revelations about the violations by the NSA and FBI demonstrate.

  3. Warrantless. Congress late 2008. Big Democrat majority.
A vote for a Democrat is a vote against your own rights.

  4. "The NSA says that the missteps amount to a small number — less than 1 percent..."

EVERY communication to, from, and within the United States is recorded. So, if there are 500 million communications a day, one per cent would be 5 million. That's quite significant. Also, if the members of the MSM were spied on they could be being blackmailed into being the total a$$holes that they are being. Ditto for all Democrat Congressmen. At any rate, eight years of Obama has totally politicized our intelligence agencies, the IRS, the DOJ and FBI, and the entire deep state. And for all intents and purposes it appears that Obama continues to call a lot of the shots. - Elric

  5. New York Times = Fake News. This blog says so. Thus, Obama never wiretapped Trump.
