Media needs to get over itself because it is not that important

First, I have to get this off my chest: Jake Tapper is a joke.

Preening about the First Amendment has become this summer's obsession in the media.

The journalists arrogantly lecture us on their importance to a democracy.

But the truth is, the media is not all that important. We elected a president last year without their help or guidance. And we got a pretty good one out of the deal.

In fact, we picked the candidate they swore up and down is Hitler.

And yet, in his six month as president, there are no concentration camps.

No fascists breaking windows -- except for the Democrats.

No political assassinations -- despite the best efforts of Democrats. If he is a Hitler then he is so incompetent that we should call him Barack Hitler.

So, the press lied to us all of last year, and continues to do so this year.

But here is Carl Bernstein of Watergate fame banging his gums about journalism, a trade he long ago abandoned in favor of foul-mouthed slander. Bernstein is like an overpriced Rick Wilson -- that bald-headed "Republican" who squawks about Trump all the time.

From Bernstein:
"We're in foreign territory. We have never been in a malignant presidency like this before. It calls on our leaders, it calls on our journalists to do a different kind of reporting, a different kind of dealing with this presidency and the president."
Bernstein defended Psycho Joe and Crazy Mika:
"They are worried about his character. They are worried about his capabilities. They are worried about his temperament and state of his temperament, to use kind words here."
No sane person is worried about Trump's mental health.

Oh, the anti-Trump people will pretend he's crazy.

Everyone knows this is BS that CNN and the rest feed to the nutjob holdouts who still watch their silly shows in the vain hope that the election will be overturned and Hillary will become president.

Wolf Blitzer -- another pseudo-intellectual on Carbuncle News Network -- says he is worried that Trump is working people into a frenzy. Calling reporters the enemies of the state endangers their lives, right?

Wrong.

People have hated on CNN for decades now. The only danger their reporters are in is dying of embarrassment when we laugh at them.

No one is going to hurt them. They are not worth going to jail over.

CNN does not matter. None of the media matter because they blew their credibility by telling us Obamacare would bring health insurance to 47 million people and you could keep your doctor.

The media also blew it by telling me I am a racist for not voting for Obama, a misogynist for not voting for Hillary, and a Russian for voting for Trump.

Life is good without a newspaper. Local TV news is OK. I get the weather and sports online.

So let Bernstein and Blitzer and the rest huff and puff about the power of the press because it no longer exists.

And I think they realize it, embodied by President Trump. Every time they see him on TV or on the web, they see their own failure.

Hillary had a great fall. All the wannabe president's men couldn't put her back together again.

It's over.

They bet on the wrong nag, and lost everything.

  1. The media doesn't matter because they marginalized themselves. Our only part of the process was not believing them anymore. I live in Florida and only watch the local news when a hurricane is forecast. How often has that happened in the past 10 years?

    4. The Media don't matter because...

They really don't. The total TV audience is over 300 million people. About 120 million people voted in the last election. On a good night MSNBC & CNN get maybe 5 million. There's no accounting for taste.

  2. The corporate "media" is not the First Amendment. The First Amendment is not the corporate media. The "press" is only one word of the amendment and not even the central tenet. "
    Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

The corporate media has hijacked the First Amendment for its own purposes.

  4. I get local news from a radio station web site. I'd like to see conservative organizations get into something like that for local news. They could staff with volunteers and pay a lot of their bills with classified ads and obituaries, let alone local advertising.

  5. Like the Soviet Union of the 1980s, the mainstream media is a hollow empire waiting to fall. Trump, like Reagan, is knocking on the hollow walls to speed the process.

  6. Watch what happens when his shot at McConnell that, if the Senate can't do R&R on IdiotCare, do Repeal (my fave) now and worry about Replace later really sinks in.

    1. Indeed.

The Uniparty red team is in a caged death match this time if R & R evolves. That's the fun part. We have their previous repeal vote tally, for the most part, and we'll pick up at least 4 waffles this time to the nay side to please USCoC, the unions, and the health sector.

      Your move Uniparty.

  7. So many golden nuggets in this post.

"The only danger their reporters are in is dying of embarrassment when we laugh at them." LOL. except they are proving to be shameless and beyond embarrassment.

  8. Why do so many conservative website require a fake book account to comment? I'd rather set my pubic hair on fire than have a fake book account.

The only option for a homepage with a search engine is owned by one of those liberal billionaires. Do I have to build my own webpage with like to the site I go to?

  12. The only private organization protected in the Constitution is the press/media in the 1st Amendment. They have dishonored that right given to them by the Founders.
