Anatomy of a nothing burger

Another Friday afternoon, another team of newspaper reporters likely is feverishly working on the latest leak from Democratic Party operatives who are trying to bring down President Trump.

These stories follow a pattern: splash a big story on the front page on Sunday -- carefully placing the story online on Saturday so the Sunday talk show hosts can prep to talk about it on Sunday.

Or maybe they will wait until next week.

But the pattern is the same. Has been for more than a year. The Washington Post or the New York Times reports some super-duper scandal, the broadcast networks and CNN go ape, and a week later the story that ends his campaign/ends his presidency has turned into another nothing burger.

Urinating hookers?

Comey memo?

Russian lawyer?

Nothing burger, nothing burger, nothing burger. The only goods they had on Trump were the Billy Bush tape. By that time the press had served so many nothing burgers and Trump supporters were so angry with the Fake News that they stayed with Trump in spite.

The Russian lawyer story was only the latest and a good example of this time-tested Fail.

The New York Times got this scoop:

Trump Team Met With Lawyer Linked to Kremlin During Campaign

And the crowd went wild.
ABC News: Donald Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner met with Russian lawyer during 2016 campaign: source
New York magazine: Donald Trump Jr.'s ‘Denials’ of Russian Collusion Are Actually Confessions
Washington Post: Donald Trump Jr.'s stunningly incriminating statement to the New York Times
Washington Post: President's son met with Russian lawyer during presidential campaign after being promised information helpful to father's effort
That was Day One. Day Two, the Times reported:

Donald Trump Jr.'s Two Different Explanations for Russian Meeting

And the crowd went wild. Again.
Politico: Donald Trump Jr. in legal danger for Russia meeting about Clinton dirt
Reuters: Exclusive: Donald Trump Jr. hires N.Y. lawyer for Russia probes
Vox: The latest Trump/Russia leaks came from inside the White House
Washington Post: Donald Trump Jr. just contradicted a whole bunch of White House denials of Russian contacts
I like that the-phone-call-came-from-inside-the-house headline. The impeachment of Donald Jr. as First Son was well on its way.

And then Trump Junior released the memos, the Times reported:

Read the Emails on Donald Trump Jr.

And the story unraveled.

Not only was this a nothing burger but the lawyer turned out to be a plant, allowed by President Obama's regime to come to America without a visa -- despite the same people making her out later to be a Kremlin spy.

Net result: The people who hate Trump still hate Trump. The people who love Trump still love Trump. And those in between trust the media just a little bit less.

  1. Collusion: secret or illegal cooperation or conspiracy, especially in order to cheat or deceive others.

That is exactly what the Democrats and MSM are doing - colluding to make up false incriminating stories to undermine President Trump. And they dropped all attempts at being subtle about it a long time ago. Obama never had to deal with this, and now he is giving his tacit approval if not instigating it. It's difficult trying to find just the right word to describe these execrable people. Probably the best word is seditionists.

Sedition: conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch.

That's exactly what they are, and there are laws against sedition. They are playing with fire and sooner or later they will get burned. - Elric

    1. No one needs the MSM to be deeply concerned as an American by the actual words and actions of this president and his out of touch, unqualified, and entitled family.

Other than trying to enrich themselves, they seem to have no idea what they are doing. I don't have to rely on the media to tell me what I hear and see for myself. I listen to his words - not those of the media - to form my opinions.

And I see no evidence that he is even capable of the leadership or the help that the people of this beautiful country need and deserve. He takes no personal responsibility for his own words, actions. And no - pointing fingers of blame at others is not leadership

Endlessly lying and blaming others for his own lack of awareness, competency, and effectiveness is childish and unprofessional at best. And it gets older and more shameful by the minute. We all deserve better.

We all need to wake up and face reality. And he needs to grow up, and get to work.

    2. Yes, you're absolutely right - the people of our beautiful country should never have had to have Barack "you acted stupidly" Obama as our president.

    3. The only ones who need to grow up are people like you, Thomas.

One of the things I love about President Trump is that he's pulled back the curtain and ripped the carefully crafted masks off you and the rest of your ilk to show your true faces. True to form all of you have been screeching and throwing destructive temper tantrums ever since. The sheer lack of self awareness out of your ilk is like watching a train wreck.

I warned fools like you nine months ago that the way you behave over the next year will determine how you will be perceived and treated for the rest of your lives. You certainly have not let me down -- the self immolation has been a spectacular sight. That pile of stinking grey stuff you find yourself on is the ash heap of history. Get used to it because there is no way to get off it.

    4. If the democrats ever hope to win again they had better change their tune.
      Policies 0
      Leadership 0
The constant whining and inane comparisons to Hitler and the like are playing right into Trumps hands but the liberal losers are too blinded by hate to see how they are being played.Do not underestimate Trump.

  2. "And those in between trust the media just a little bit less." Truer worst were never spoken. Though it's getting tougher to believe them "less."

  3. The obama administration and the clinton crime family foundation must be investigated thoroughly (again?) and this time proceed to prosecution. "Intent" be damned.

  4. Don would have us believe there is no balance in the mainstream media process these days, but I ain't so sure.

They flip America the nothing-burgers, America flips them the bird.

    It's a balance of sorts.

  5. A stock broker once told me after I had lost everything on a stock except about 2 cents, "Why sell it? It may go up". I sold it and it did go up, 10 years later.
The media has now bottomed out. They are committed to their play of Trump hate so much they would lose more by admitting defeat than pressing on with their degraded holdings of trust. The theory seems to be sooner or later people will forget what they saw with their lying eyes and move on, giving them another chance in a few years to ruin another person their rich masters wants to destroy for profit. They are the only big game in town and now they are all united in Trumplie, since once helpful Fox has been handed over to its former master's Hamptons brained Beagle Boys.
Protected by liberal court psychiatrists administering to Thomas Jefferson's delusions, watered by reliable geysers of cash from impervious magma deep retail springs, and strengthened even more by a profound driving contempt for their audience, they have no fear of retribution at all, no urgency for resolution. Justice is blind to their crimes.
Consider Sarah Palin. She is suing the NYT for clear liable. However yesterday in NYC where her celebrity lawyers
filed her case, a Clinton appointed Judge released to his home the most corrupt politician in NY history, convicted by no less a hero to the left ( but not Don) than Preet B, on a ridiculous technicality. Will Sarah win in NY, an acknowledged legal cloaca? I'm told by a friendly barracuda 19/1 are the odds against. How many thousand times less would be any chance of press restriction from the courts?
Trump will need grassroots support as well as that of the senate and house too to be successful in his his quest to help a country he loves and wants to strengthen but his enemies want only to ravage for themselves, leave infected with a kind of enervating syphilis of the will. The long predicted civil war is actually in progress as we post. My thoughts are with the CNC

  8. I just am sick and tired, that for forty years of my life the media and democrats have insisted foreign collusion on their behalf was good, that it meant the other countries new better than we voters. And now, after my whole life being told one thing, I am expected to believe the opposite?
    Riiight.
