Go ahead. Ban cultural appropriation

Readers of "Trump the Establishment" may remember this paragraph:
Cultural appropriation is the successor to multicultural diversity, which holds that newcomers bring new customs that we should incorporate into our nation. Cultural appropriation admonishes us for incorporating new customs. Liberalism is not supposed to make sense.

That paragraph explained the hysteria over the above tweet.

Now the United Nations wants to "outlaw" cultural appropriation.

From Fox News:
Should indigenous groups around the globe have the same intellectual-property rights afforded to musicians, filmmakers and other artists?
The question comes from an emerging concern about what some refer to as “cultural appropriation.” In fact, it has become such a controversial matter that the United Nations held a meeting in Geneva this week to consider attempts to penalize cultural appropriation.
The UN-backed group is working on three pieces of international law that would give indigenous groups legal rights to their name.
“We’re not talking about cultural appropriation, we’re talking about cultural misappropriation,” James Anaya, the dean of the University of Colorado law School and one of the guest speakers at the committee meeting of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), told Fox News. “Companies need to get permission from an indigenous group to use something that is culturally important and we need to develop strategies for how this can be implemented.”
Plenty of conservative sites are up in arms over this.

Not me.

For two reasons.

First, from Taki's magazine:
We would love to cut a deal with the noble indigenous peoples across the Earth — you can have your Navajo panties and aboriginal dot paintings and every last freaking burrito on the planet so long as you give us back our computers and cell phones and cars and indoor plumbing and electricity and air conditioners. Deal?
Add everything else from vaccines to indoor plumbing to silverware.

But the second reason is that ending cultural appropriation ends any argument in favor of multicultural diversity.

We have gone from the melting pot to the salad bar to the segregated camps of aggrieved persons.

We do not need this noise.

By the way, can we apply cultural appropriation to men trying to segue into womanhood and vice versa?

On November 8, 2016, the American people said, "Trump the Establishment!"

Now read the book that explains how and why the press missed this historic election.

It is available on Kindle, and in paperback.

And then read the original, "Trump the Press," which chronicled and mocked how the media missed Trump's nomination.

It is available on Kindle, and in paperback

Autographed copies of both books are available by writing me at DonSurber@GMail.com

  3. Never expect the left to apply laws equally. They hold the balance of power in the UN and international courts. You know who runs things by who makes the exceptions. Liberals are experts at this. Just try to do something any liberal can do with a piece of property in a liberal town. They treat you like a murderer.

This is brilliant. But is that "cultural" or is it gender appropriation?

    1. That's coming. The UN is an enemy. Trump isn't going to fund them much longer. It all goes back to the tale of the "snake and the woman".

I believe this would be classified as "gender appropriation".

  7. Obviously, the only way to keep out cultural appropriation is to close the borders and allow no (NO, absolutely NONE AT ALL) immigration and prohibit importation of anything from a foreign nation. Sombreros, deerstalker caps, astrakhans, derbies, and the like. Trench coats. You get the idea.

  9. There goes Ancestry.com's "World Explorer", "Ancestral DNA", and the hipster fascination with "global/cultural" lineage. Who among them would want to know they are ALL cultural thieves? (don't answer that)

  11. Utterly ridiculous. Not only should we stop funding the UN, we should tell them that we'll give them fair market value for the UN Building so they can go somewhere else and build a new one. Baghdad is one possibility.

  12. This is the brainchild of people who simply do not have enough to do. They are dying for a reason to exist, and desperate to feel important. But ok, I'll play along...if you are not a Jewish male, and you are wearing blue jeans, I demand you strip off your blue jeans immediately and run around in your underpants. Blue jeans were invented by Levi Strauss, a Jewish male, so shame on you if you are appropriating his creation. Now, I'm not sure who invented underpants, so we might have a problem there as well. I'll study it and get back to you....

  17. "Cultural appropriation admonishes us..."

Declares that we are, in fact, RACIST if we "incorporate" anything from any culture other than our own. Our own culture, meanwhile, is by definition racist and evil, and so are we all. Having been born white, we suffer from the original sin of "white privilege", a stain for which there is no baptism and no forgiveness.

Now, apparently, not only are we to be branded RACIST but actually face criminal charges.
