In the 10 weeks he has been the president-in-waiting, Trump has accomplished more of permanence than Barack Obama, who built his legacy on sand.
Obamacare will soon be gone. The Islamic State too. The EPA will surrender in its War on Coal. The DOJ will abandon its persecution of police officers. And so on.
His main accomplishments will be allowing Corporal Klinger to wear a dress. If you recall, neither Colonel Blake or Colonel Potter gave a damn.
Meanwhile, in California, the Trumpquake has moved the state to the right.
Illegal aliens no longer will receive one expensive, special privilege.
From the Sacramento Bee:
California has withdrawn its request to the federal government for permission to allow undocumented people to obtain health insurance from the state exchange, with a lawmaker linking the decision to concerns about the incoming Trump administration.
State Sen. Ricardo Lara, D-Bell Gardens, called the action “the first California casualty of the Trump presidency.” Lara, who carried the bill seeking the change and requested Wednesday’s move, said in a statement that he doesn’t “trust the Trump administration to do what’s best for California and to implement the waiver in a way that protects people’s privacy and health.”
“I take Trump at his word that anyone is subject to deportation at any time,” Lara added, “and California will not be part of a wasteful and inhumane campaign against immigrants who are working hard and playing by the rules.”If they had played by the rules they would not be here.
There is a Trumpquake in California, followed by a tsunami alert in Mexico.
Please read "Trump the Press," in which I skewer media experts who wrongly predicted Trump would lose the Republican nomination. "Trump the Press" is available as a paperback, and on Kindle.
It covers the nomination process only. The general election will be covered in a sequel, "Trump the Establishment."
