Trumpquake hits California

As I write this, Donald Trump is poised to become the 45th president in exactly 24 hours.

In the 10 weeks he has been the president-in-waiting, Trump has accomplished more of permanence than Barack Obama, who built his legacy on sand.

Obamacare will soon be gone. The Islamic State too. The EPA will surrender in its War on Coal. The DOJ will abandon its persecution of police officers. And so on.

His main accomplishments will be allowing Corporal Klinger to wear a dress. If you recall, neither Colonel Blake or Colonel Potter gave a damn.

Meanwhile, in California, the Trumpquake has moved the state to the right.

Illegal aliens no longer will receive one expensive, special privilege.

From the Sacramento Bee:
California has withdrawn its request to the federal government for permission to allow undocumented people to obtain health insurance from the state exchange, with a lawmaker linking the decision to concerns about the incoming Trump administration.
State Sen. Ricardo Lara, D-Bell Gardens, called the action “the first California casualty of the Trump presidency.” Lara, who carried the bill seeking the change and requested Wednesday’s move, said in a statement that he doesn’t “trust the Trump administration to do what’s best for California and to implement the waiver in a way that protects people’s privacy and health.”
“I take Trump at his word that anyone is subject to deportation at any time,” Lara added, “and California will not be part of a wasteful and inhumane campaign against immigrants who are working hard and playing by the rules.”
If they had played by the rules they would not be here.

There is a Trumpquake in California, followed by a tsunami alert in Mexico.

Please read "Trump the Press," in which I skewer media experts who wrongly predicted Trump would lose the Republican nomination. "Trump the Press" is available as a paperback, and on Kindle.

It covers the nomination process only. The general election will be covered in a sequel, "Trump the Establishment."

  1. A plan for taking back California and making it great again:
    1. Require the use of E-verify to ensure Federal taxes are being paid (and illegals aren't being hired).
    2. Require voter ID, purple fingers, and mail in ballots due to California's massive electoral fraud.
    3. Federally preempt all state gun laws as CA, NJ, NY, IL, and others have continually infringed on the rights of the people to keep and bear arms, often for racial purposes.
    4. Build the wall!

    1. Build the wall around California!

There's a funny story (I suspect partly true) about the historic forts at the entrance to the Old Port (Vieux Port) in Marseille. They were built not to keep the enemy out but to keep the obstreperous Marseillais in. That is why some of the guns in the forts point towards the city rather than towards the sea.

    2. Boxty- I fully agree with all except #2. Mail-in ballots are a big part of the problem here in CA; the DMV hands out driver's licenses to illegals who only have to tick a box on the form and submit it to receive their voter registration (no one asks if they are eligible, it's an 'honor' system ha ha.) Also, lots of dead people vote Democrat each time as the mail-in ballots arrive whether the voter is dead or not. (A friend of mine actually got a ballot for his dog, which he sent back- but that doesn't reassure me of the integrity of our voting officials.)

Voting should only be allowed in person at a polling place (with exceptions for disabled people or military,) with photo ID showing the voter's citizenship.

  2. The California Dept of Finance (I think that is the correct name) put a 1.5 BILLION dollar "error" found in the states Medi-Cal (their name for Medicaid) program in this year's governors budget which was found in 2016. Obamacare applicants are directed to state Medicaid programs especially in CA. For California the percentage of illegals who were made eligible (fradulently) was significant. Please recall that new Medicaid enrollees had a significant percentage of the cost covered by the federal budget in the early Obamacare years which decreased over time of course sticking the state taxpayers covering the costs eventually. California winked and nodded to get the feds to cover a lot of the cost of illegals medical treatment which was a huge boon. Now with the CA budget in crisis and the increasing percentage of cost paid by the state for Medi-Cal, the illegals are the first to get the boot. Imminent bankruptcy make re-prioritizing a necessity. Something has to go and illegal aliens are not as special as previously stated. And a Trump administration bail-out for stuff like this is not probable and they know it.

  3. Damn I'm loving this. The Reepubs in Congress need to sit up and start taking copious notes. FIGHT! Mr. Trump is changing the paradigm. Crap, even the media is covering his every mile towards DC. You speak with authority, you do the things you said...Demmies get scared. Good. They should be.

  5. Instapundit credits Don's comment here:

"LET’S GROOVE: LGBT Activists Throw ‘Queer Dance Party’ at VP-Elect Pence’s House.

Sounds fun, but what did they hope to accomplish?

UPDATE: Word on Twitter is that the event only lasted half an hour, which officially makes this the worst-ever gay dance party at any location.

ANOTHER UPDATE (From Glenn): Don Surber in the comments for the win: “I always said gay people would be dancing in the streets with the election of President Trump. And I was right!”

She hunkered down (f*** "sheltering in place") till Trump brought reinforcements up.

      Now begins the counter-offensive.
