Never Trumpers demand he hire them

Throughout 2016, Never Trumpers paraded their principles as they refused to support the one person who could stop Hillary.

In 2017, these virtue signalers are surprised that President Trump won't hire them.

And they are whining to the Washington Post that the man they called Hitler won't hire them.
They are some of the biggest names in the Republican national security firmament, veterans of past GOP administrations who say, if called upon by President-elect Donald Trump, they stand ready to serve their country again.
But their phones aren’t ringing. Their entreaties to Trump Tower in New York have mostly gone unanswered. In Trump world, these establishment all-stars say they are “PNG” — personae non gratae.
Funny how that works. Some people are so sensitive when you call them names and do everything you can to kneecap them.

Peter Feaver, a National Security Council special adviser under President George W. Bush, said:
“Before he won, the conversation was, ‘We really would love for you to change your mind and join us.’ Since he won . . . the conversation is, ‘There likely will be a blacklist of people who signed the letters who won’t themselves be eligible for a post.’ ”
The enemies list he refers to are two letters he and dozens of other elitists signed. They swore they were his enemies and listed their own names.

A March 2 letter stated:
His vision of American influence and power in the world is wildly inconsistent and unmoored in principle. He swings from isolationism to military adventurism within the space of one sentence.
His advocacy for aggressively waging trade wars is a recipe for economic disaster in a globally connected world.
His embrace of the expansive use of torture is inexcusable.
His hateful, anti-Muslim rhetoric undercuts the seriousness of combating Islamic radicalism by alienating partners in the Islamic world making significant contributions to the effort. Furthermore, it endangers the safety and Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms of American Muslims.
Controlling our border and preventing illegal immigration is a serious issue, but his insistence that Mexico will fund a wall on the southern border inflames unhelpful passions, and rests on an utter misreading of, and contempt for, our southern neighbor.
Similarly, his insistence that close allies such as Japan must pay vast sums for protection is the sentiment of a racketeer, not the leader of the alliances that have served us so well since World War II.
His admiration for foreign dictators such as Vladimir Putin is unacceptable for the leader of the world’s greatest democracy.
He is fundamentally dishonest. Evidence of this includes his attempts to deny positions he has unquestionably taken in the past, including on the 2003 Iraq war and the 2011 Libyan conflict. We accept that views evolve over time, but this is simply misrepresentation.
His equation of business acumen with foreign policy experience is false. Not all lethal conflicts can be resolved as a real estate deal might, and there is no recourse to bankruptcy court in international affairs.
Feaver signed the letter. Now he complains that Trump won't give Never Trumpers the time of day? That shows how unprincipled Never Trump was.

But why would anyone be OK with hiring someone who is willing to work for a man he considers to be Hitler?

Who would trust these saboteurs?

Please read "Trump the Press," in which I skewer media experts who wrongly predicted Trump would lose the Republican nomination. "Trump the Press" is available as a paperback, and on Kindle.

It covers the nomination process only. The general election will be covered in a sequel.

  1. Oh, poor babies! Maybe they should march with the ladies on the 21st! That would show Trump who is boss.

    1. I have a dream.

Mattis turns up on the day and yells, "If you chicks are gonna march, you're gonna MARCH! Now stop slouching, catch step and lemme hear your cadence!"

  2. For them and for everyone who cares hiring even one of them is an admission they were correct in their calumnies. The more pious among them should just accept martydom in the arena, like St Polycarp and give up veneration for 1300 years.

  3. They see themselves as the experts.

He sees them as part of the problem.

  5. When you clean your toilet, you typically have to scrub some brown streaks off the inside of the bowl. See ya, Never Trumpers.

  6. Oh yes that Trump is just so thinned skinned, isn't he. Now that the big Trump boot is kicking then down the street we see really why is thinned skinned.

  7. Now that they are facing irrevelence they are swallowing their pride and wanting a place at the table.

  8. They swore they were #NeverTrump. Donald Trump is helping them keep their word.

  9. Their world view, as expressed in the letter you quoted, is so at odds with Trump's, why would he hire them? If you express an opinion that's diametrically the opposite of the one held by a prospective employer, would you expect him to welcome you with open arms and offer you a job? You obviously could not carry out the responsibilities of the job in the way he would want. And since it appears Trump is going to give his cabinet officials and other appointees wide latitude to do their jobs, he would not want to hire people whose inclination when left alone is to undermine the general principles and policies he thinks need to replace the failed ones of the previous administrations.

  11. It would not bother me at all if they find themselves cleaning hotel rooms for the rest of their careers. That is good, worthy work, and they have spent the past 25 years telling us that there aren't enough Americans with the skills for that job. So once President Trump builds the Wall, there should be many openings!

They invented and spread False Witness against Mr Trump and his supporters, in many cases they actually urged punishment for supporting him, demanding "a price for supporting Trump" - I saw one article that actually said Hillary should "keep her boot on the GOP's neck after she wins" - and they would have enforced that. These are the people who forced Brendan Eich out of his own company, who boycotted Arizona & North Carolina, who won't hire or promote traditional Americans themselves.

I will forgive them and hope they go to Heaven. But Never Trump folk have proven they lack the skills to serve in any position of authority or influence.

Besides, we didn't elect President to give them jobs - we elected him to create jobs for real Americans.

    1. There once was a story that went around about the rich (and allegedly nasty) hotelier Leona Helmsley, which claimed she would get down on her hands and knees in a bathroom, with an old toothbrush in hand, to instruct a new housekeeping employee how to clean around a toilet to the standards she wanted for her guests. I don't know how true the story is---sounds like it's too good to be true---but if cleaning the bathroom floor of a hotel room was good enough for Leona, it is good enough for the Never Trumpers---assuming they have the skills to do the job properly to OUR satisfaction.
