The quality of journalism at the Charleston Gazette-Mail

Public Safety Reporter Erin Beck of the Charleston Gazette sent an interesting tweet to a candidate for public office.

Thomas W. Goodman is the Republican running in the 37th House district in Charleston, West Virginia, against incumbent Democrat Mike Pushkin. Goodman operates a metal recycling business, Mountain Pride Recycling.

Here is who Erin Beck is, according to Erin Beck:
Erin Beck started at the Charleston Gazette-Mail prior to the merger, as a Charleston Gazette reporter in July of 2014. She has worked at HOPE, Inc., a domestic violence agency in Clarksburg, and at The Exponent Telegram. She has a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's degree in public health from West Virginia University. She grew up in Doddridge and Ritchie counties in West Virginia. Some of her interests include social justice, politics, live music, and the betterment of West Virginia.
Ah, 21st century journalism.

Please read "Trump the Press," a fun romp through the Republican nomination that uses the deadliest weapon to skewer the media experts: their own words. "Trump the Press" is available as a paperback, and on Kindle.

  1. She's just upset because she can't open the pickle jar with her dildo.

  2. Degrees in public health are basically diploma mills for activists and functionaries for the managerial administrative state. They mean that the holders of them have about the same fund of knowledge as a journalism, English, Sociology, Education major, or any department beginning with the word "studies".

  3. As present, it appears that in 2017, we may get a government headed by Hillary Clinton, and an opposition headed by Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell.

Is that what the people were hoping for, working for, voting for in the primaries of 2016? Or is this what they were voting against?

    1. You should have put quotes around "opposition". Ain't none now, won't be none then.

  4. I always called the Charleston Gazette the "Communist Fishwrapper." The only thing it is good for is to raise your blood pressure in the morning. - Elric

That is one hell of a depressing thought. I'm sure George Pharr has many replacements and the Clinton Crime Family surely make LBJ look saintly. But what the heck, rather than let that ruin my day, I'll adopt a wait and see attitude.

  6. "Some of her interests include social justice, politics, live music, and the betterment of West Virginia." Full-on Leftie, in her own words.

Her question is worth a ton of ridicule, but I will not annoy any more pixels here.

    3. Why do you assume I'm a woman? Because I don't think sexual assault is a good thing?

No, because I assume you are Erin Beck.

To all Anonymouses (anonymice?) -- please provide some specific identifier (nickname, last four of SSN, driver's license number, SOMETHING.
I'm thrown off by multiple anonymouses and would like to know there are, indeed, multiple ones, rather than one with really contradictory, confused positions and statements.

    10. Well, Anymoose, you can't be a man because you don't have the balls to post your name.
Is Donald Trump in any way close to the predition of A certain former President whose wife aided and abetted his assaults on many women? and what of that woman defending a rapist who assaulted a child and demeaned her and laughs about it to this day?
Last point, have any of the accusations against Trump been proven? One of the women making allegations has had at least two run in's with the Trump businesses that are well documented by the folks at redit.

  8. "Some of her interests include social justice . . . ."

A passing "interest" in social justice. That's like saying she has an interest in "saving the Jews from Auschwitz," or a passing interest in defending clients in death penalty cases."

Either one is playing at social justice and not giving it the attention it deserves or it doesn't deserve any more attention hat that (these are not mutually exclusive). And remember, she probably wrote that blurb herself.
