Stacy McCain gets last laugh at Twitter

In February, Twitter banned conservative blogger Robert Stacy McCain, leaving his 90,000 followers in the lurch. Then gay conservative Milo Yiannopoulos. Then Glenn Reynolds, whom they reinstated and who decided not to use Twitter for anything but free promotion of his blog.

Purging Twitter of conservatives has consequences as 300 Twitter employees will soon discover.

From Bloomberg News:
Twitter may eliminate about 300 people, the same percentage it did last year when co-founder Jack Dorsey took over as chief executive officer, according to people familiar with the matter. Planning for the cuts is still fluid and the number could change, they added. The people asked not to be identified talking about private company plans.
An announcement about the job reductions may come before Twitter releases third-quarter earnings on Thursday, one of the people said. A Twitter representative declined to comment.
Twitter, which is unprofitable, is trying to control spending as sales growth slows. The company recently hired bankers to explore a sale, but the companies that had expressed interest in bidding -- Salesforce.com Inc., The Walt Disney Co. and Alphabet Inc. -- later backed out from the process.
Blame CEO Jack Dorsey's purges. He set up some fake committee of liberals to review complaints from themselves to bust conservatives. That tarnished the brand.

He took something fun and politicized it. Worse, Dorsey chose the wrong side.

Screwing with conservatives is a dumb business plan. As Target discovered, as well as the Susan Komen foundation.

We don't get positive press.

We get results.

Just ask Chick-fil-A.

Liberals decided to boycott it.

Conservatives held a counter protest called Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day.

We set sales records.

  1. They were frantically trying to get the sale done before the election because we were going to dump them for Gab right after.

  2. Any business plan that alienates half of your potential customer base is short-sighted.

  3. Thanks for the Question Bay link. So many questions. Where is the official Republican outrage over this? Am I missing something? Have any of the nevertumpers addressed this? Keep in mind one reason so many people dumped Cruz is because he made out like Trump was to blame for the violence. I also wonder how long it will take the people who got bloodied up that they have a class action case against the DNC and maybe Hillary herself.

  5. When the SJW's come after your company, just give the concerned look, spout some wonderful pablum about "exploration" and "processes" and "fundamentals" and "inclusiveness".

Such as "We have started an internal process to review the statements we have received about _______. We are committed to inclusiveness and have established that as one of the fundamentals of this organization. As our exploration goes forth we are certain that a resolution addressing all interests will come forth."

And then wait a week, week and a half, and all of those twits will go haring off after the next Public Enemy #1.

  6. Lefties are forever divesting, boycotting, all that stuff, but rarely do Conservatives because they have lives and blowing up over every "cause" isn't their thing.

Chick-Fil-A, however, gave them an idea of their real power and we are seeing more of it.

    I, for one, avoid Walmart.

    2. Yes, he of all of those out there, had the temerity to state the blindingly obvious. Now the rest of them knew it, they just did not want to state it. For that, he is more honest than the rest of that nest of vipers.

  9. You are assuming Hack Dorsey gives a crap about his employees or the investors. He can afford to run the company into the ground to signal his SJW creds.

  12. I'm quitting Twitter, and I'm on Gab now. It has a long, long way to go as a platform. I'm @1lanehwy there, if anybody cares, and on Instagram, too, likewise if anybody cares.
