You Cruz, you lose

Georgia State Senator Mike Crane backed Ted Cruz.

He got his butt whipped in Tuesday's Republican primary for an open congressional seat now held by Republican Lynn Westmoreland. This came after Cruz stumped for Crane the day after being booed at the RNC for being a jerk. Guess voters voted their conscience.

Oh yes, and Crane said he would shoot a police officer who used a no-knock warrant. From the Atlantas Journal-Constitution:
“You come to my house, kick down my door — if I have an opportunity, I will shoot you dead,” Crane said.
An “amen” can be heard in the recording, coming from the crowd.
“And every one of you should do the same. It is the only area where the law enforcement community and I differ,” Crane said. “But they have to understand the law.
White Lives Matter.

Surprisingly, many Republicans oppose shooting law enforcement officers who are in your house legally. We can argue the constitutionality of no-knock warrants. but until a judge rules that way in a case that applies to Crane's district, guess what? They're legal. As the song Truckin' said:
But if you got a warrant, I guess you're gonna come in.
I get that you have rights but I also get that Blue Lives Matter. They do not have time to play games. You do what you are told. There is time to correct things later.

Cruz who memorized the Constitution at 13 seems to have forgotten the part that says police can enter a home with a warrant. From the Atlanta newspaper's account of his appearance on Friday:
Cruz appeared unfazed by the recent controversy telling a crowd of supporters that Georgia needs someone with a backbone in Washington.
“If you want to see a federal government that finally does its job, secures the borders, stops illegal immigration, elect Mike Crane to Congress,” Cruz said.
Crane, who choked up when he introduced Cruz, is viewed by some as the Georgia Senate’s version of the Texas senator: Independent and unafraid to ruffle feathers, even if it means alienating his own Republican colleagues. Ferguson has been endorsed by the state Chamber of Commerce and retiring 3rd District Congressman Lynn Westmoreland. He’s widely viewed as the establishment Republican candidate in the race.
It was an 8-point victory for Drew Ferguson, former mayor of West Point, Georgia.

In the wake of what happened to Crane, Cruz might consider being less of a jerk.

  1. Cruz is developing the Obama touch.

  2. I'll bet requests for Ted to speak and/or endorse candidates is about to take a precipitous drop. And deservedly so. - Elric

  3. I know what it's like to be in no man's land. If you make the choice to be there, you had better be prepared to be totally on your own and self sufficient. Either happily at the end of your career, or able to make it on your own. I suspect that Cruz or his wife has some parachute that is in reserve or has already been used. They are too young to be set for retirement. If things are otherwise, the man is a complete fool.

    1. Goldman-Sachs to the rescue! Heidi Cruz is an "investment manager" at Goldman-Sachs - at least until she took an unpaid leave of absence to help Ted's campaign. I don't think they'll leave her hanging, whether Ted has his political aims set higher for the future or just decides to become a house-husband. maybe they can even swing a position for him, too. - Elric

  4. I don’t have any particular expertise in the GA-3 House race, but I doubt America is helped by the result.

The loser, Crane, was endorsed by the knuckleheads, Cruz and Erick Erickson, the human carbohydrate sculpture.

The winner, Ferguson, was endorsed by the RINO retiring incumbent Westmoreland, and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. Ferguson is “widely viewed as the establishment Republican candidate”.

I am as happy as anyone that Cruz and Erickson are further humiliated.

But I’m not sure why I should be happy that GA is going to replace one RINO Congressman with another. GA is a red-red-state. They should be electing Reagan conservatives.

  5. I'm wondering if Trump's nomination means that the religious right has lost it's strangle hold on the Republican party.

  6. Cruz is turning into Bad Luck Schleprock from the Flintstones. You can almost see the little black cloud of doom following him around.

  7. Don, I'm disappointed in this post. I'm reading through your book and finding it persuasive, but you have engaged in selective quoting of Mr. Crane. Following your link and actually watching the video of Mr. Crane, he is speaking against the abuse of no-knock raids. He states that Georgia law prohibits them and advocates the rights of citizens to self defense. Most of these are issued for drug raids where the rationale is that the suspect will destroy evidence if the police announce their presence. The chance of this does not excuse the use of violence to seize a small amount of drugs. You have persuaded me to support Trump, not just oppose Crooked Hillary. This post shows your animus for Ted Cruz and you can do better.
