  1. It would be something like the India/Pakistan/Bangladesh partition. Move to your preferred ideology geological locale. But might be friendlier than what we have now. The problem would be all the libs and progs together and not able to blame or name-call their own co-residents if things go wrong.

    1. The Greeks did this and if they weren't fighting the Persians they were fighting each other. I continue to think that Aristotle remains the greatest political scientist in history with his collection of 150 constitutions of which the Athenian is the only one left to us. His theory of mixed government, originally alluded to by Plato, remains the best hope for the internal stability and peace of nations, but the aversion to the monarchical element by people leads them to tyranny of one sort or another.

    2. Although in our case, I believe that the monarchical element has become too strong with the help of the supreme court and the weakening of the aristocratic element by direct senatorial elections, coupled with the abrogation and delegation of duties by the Congress. The same suspicion of the aristocratic element in Rome led to Caesar and Augustus, and we are about to get our Sulla. But he's the best we can hope for.

  2. The Old North State votes to go with the rest of the South and thanks. In fact, I imagine most of VA, WV and KY would go as well, except Mordor on the Potomac, which we would not allow in anyway.

  4. Not a Twitter twit, I have no idea what this is all about, but I find it strange West Virginia is colored in light red, not green.

In any event, I have ineluctably come to agree with the proposition that the North and South should have parted ways, not because I approve of slavery, but because victory by the North in the Civil War was the start of the slow death of the principle of Federalism. The Xth Amendment to the Constitution has now been allowed to die by some, murdered by others, and the result is the corporate state under Obama.

    1. The Confederacy became extremely statist despite its rhetoric and philosophy, in order to keep fighting the war. Read Walter MacDougall's "Throes Of Democracy" on the Civil War. The country was doomed to statism and corporatism no matter who won. The fact that the South lost left an anti-federal, anti-Wall Street outlook that keeps the region a conservative hope today.

    2. Yeah, WV is definitely green. In fact, Garrett and Washington counties in MD walk and talk like Mountaineers, so we'd welcome them in too.

  5. "People's Republic of Pacifica"?

Couldn't we just call it The Anencephaly?
