Trump dives into the Internet mosh pit

Reddit is a news site known for its links and its ruthless commenters. Its "Ask Me Anything" exchanges with celebrities are brutal.

Into that fire, Donald John Trump parachuted last night.

From the Reddit AMA:

QUESTION: Hello Mr. Trump. I'm 29 years old, registered Libertarian and have voted that way my entire life. I feel closely aligned with what the party stands for, and am passionate about it. However, this election I am starting to think that, while I think a Libertarian candidate is what's best for America long term, that you may be what America needs right now. I also feel like you care about this country so, so much, and you want what's best for it. This is a difficult decision for me, because on the issues I seem to either firmly believe or strongly disagree with what you have to say. I think you may be the best possible candidate for our economy, but I do fear some of your international policies,

I know that I am not the only 3rd party voter that feels this way. So my question to you is, what do you say to people like me who are on the fence about voting 3rd party(Johnson/Stein) or for you?

TRUMP: Americans in every party are tired of our rigged system and corrupt politicians, and want to reform our government so it no longer benefits the powerful at the expense of everyone else. They know I will fix it so it works for them and their families. Hillary Clinton's message is that things will never change. My message is that things have to change, and they have to change right now.

We have to change a foreign policy that has led us to one economic disaster after another, and an economic policy that has failed our poorest citizens. We will never fix a rigged system by relying on the people who rigged it in the first place.

I am going to return the government to the people.

Together, we will Make America Great Again.

QUESTION: America has a proud tradition of stealing the most brilliant and talented people from countries around the world for ourselves. Albert Einstein, Wernher von Braun, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Melania Trump... the list goes on and on. In recent years, however, H-1B visa abuse has become rampant.

A program meant bring truly exceptional talent to America has been twisted by globalist politicians and corporations, allowing low-cost, short term labor to steal jobs from everyday Americans and take everything they learn back to their home countries. Will you curb H-1B abuse and make sure visas are going to people who want to become American, stay American, and make America great?

TRUMP: I have put forward a detailed plan for H-1B reform to protect American workers which can viewed on the immigration paper on my website. My plan is the exact opposite of Crooked Hillary Clinton.

QUESTION: Reports estimate that 90% of US media is owned by 6 companies. The US mass media has fused into a gross alliance with big business and big government as this election has shown more than any other. The dishonest media is rigging our democracy with a radical agenda that divides Americans and causes nothing but sensationalism and hatred at the expense of the USA. They are killing our country for ratings and profit, with impunity.

How will you, as president, tackle this protected class of media elites without stepping on the first amendment rights of average Americans?

TRUMP: I have been very concerned about media bias and the total dishonesty of the press. I think new media is a great way to get out the truth.

The questions were not that difficult. Don't know if the system was rigged (smile) or if it reflects a lot of Trump curiosity by Sanders fans. One thing is for sure, the answers weren't focus grouped or run by a committee. There are more questions and answers at the site.

  1. "One thing is for sure, the answers weren't focus grouped or run by a committee."

I ran across this recently from Mike Rowe commenting on political speakers more than Trump, but with Rowe's deep experience of speaking extemporaneously, I think he has an insight:

"Whatever you think of him, Donald Trump is not in Cleveland tonight because he’s richer, smarter, meaner, shrewder, or more ambitious than any other contender. He’s there, in my opinion, because talking without the aid of a Teleprompter made his opponents look like performers in some ridiculous charade, waiting for someone else’s carefully crafted words to appear before them on a magical screen, so they can speak while pretending not to read. The Teleprompter is in insult to thinking people. It’s also the enemy of authenticity, and if I were King of the World, I’d melt them all down and have the residue molded into a giant Trojan Horse."

  2. The front page of Reddit is supposed to be based on "upvoted" or "liked" threads. But the admins purposefully buried/removed the thread from the front page. Think about it: The future President of the United States appears on your platform, a huge media "get" by any standard, and you bury the interview because it can only hurt your hilariously rotten, crooked candidate. That's how big Trump is and how small Clinton is in comparison.

So, The Donald doesn't have just a Golden Parachute, he has an Asbestos Parachute, too!

Teleprompters can be useful for pre-written speeches as they can provide some practice and polishing. Nobody (well, almost nobody) can memorize a long speech and there is no real need. But DJT has a brain and can answer questions coherently and without the need of poll-testing. That is a major advantage over Hillary. - Elric

  4. Trump does have a focus-group. It's the clump of decision-making brain cells in his head.

  7. What defines superiority? Armor, speed and firepower, right?

I put it to you that The Donald's personality is superior to Clinton's in all three of these respects.

  8. A great new YouTube vid called Hillary lying for 13 minutes straight. Trump has tons of ammunition left in his locker to nail that woman. And he is amaster at using it.
