Democrats in rebellion

Well, that went well. The highlight of the first day in the DNC convention in Philadelphia was when delegates booed during a prayer.

From a video: "Sanders supporters start booing invocation when Hillary Clinton is mentioned."

From Roll Call:
Democratic discontent with Hillary Clinton was on full display at the California delegation breakfast Monday morning ahead of the first night of the Democratic National Convention.
Members of the delegation repeatedly disrupted the lineup of speakers, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, with protestations against Clinton and cheers for her erstwhile primary rival, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
From U.S. News and World Report:
Debbie Wasserman Schultz Driven Out of Chaotic Florida Democratic Breakfast.
The outgoing DNC chair was roundly booed and heckled and had to be escorted out by security.
From E News:
Sarah Silverman Gets Booed During DNC Speech After Calling ''Bernie or Bust'' Supporters ''Ridiculous''
From the Hill:
Supporters of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders fought to be heard inside the Wells Fargo Center at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia on Monday.
Every mention of Clinton provoked cheers from her supporters, with rounds of boos raining down from Sanders supporters.
The jeers and chants of “Bernie” frequently outlasted and overwhelmed cheers for Clinton inside the arena.
The fix is in, and the rank-and-file are rankled.

At the Republican Party convention, there were boos only for Ted Cruz when he refused to man up and endorse the party's nominee as Cruz promised a year ago, Republicans are united to stop Hillary.

At the Democratic Party convention, there are boos only when the party's nominee is mentioned. Are Democrats uniting to stop Hillary?

From the New York Times:
It was not the start that Mrs. Clinton wanted. In the wake of last week’s bitterly divided Republican convention in Cleveland, chuckling Democrats promised that their own meeting would be a paragon of party discipline and unity. “I can tell you we’re going to have a very different kind of convention,” Mrs. Clinton told supporters on Monday.
But the publication of 20,000 Democratic National Committee emails by WikiLeaks this weekend provided a disastrous prelude to the convention. The emails revealed concerted efforts by senior party leaders, including Ms. Wasserman Schultz, to undermine Mr. Sanders’s campaign, reopening the wounds from the primary contest.
Come Monday afternoon, Mr. Sanders’s supporters amassed outside the convention hall, shouting, “Hell no, D.N.C., we won’t vote for Hillary!” Inside, they booed at every mention of Mrs. Clinton’s name. And Ms. Wasserman Schultz had announced that she would not, as tradition dictates, strike the gavel to open the convention later that day.
Some may say Democrats have never had a convention like this.

Yes they have. In 1968.

  1. “I can tell you we’re going to have a very different kind of convention,” Mrs. Clinton told supporters on Monday.

Very different, indeed. Pass the popcorn! - Elric

  2. So much for the big tent party. One could come up with a dozen little proverbial sayings that have passed the test of time such as " lie down with dogs/ catch fleas"... the "camel in the tent" etc.

The democrat party has used every sleazy trick in the book to manipulate the masses and is now reaping what it has sown... and they can no longer effectively control it.

As any thinking person could have told them, "parasites suck blood and eventually kill the host"
The dems are in trouble and fencing it out isn't going to cut it in the long run.

Their Frankenstien wants out and he craves raw meat.
I can't think of a nicer group to reap political havoc.

  3. Wasn't Bernie in Chicago for the '68 convention?

  4. I don't know why Sarah Silverman looked so shocked last night. She should be used to being booed off stage.

  5. There's your headline: "Democrats Don't Have A Prayer".

  6. Meanwhile, France is still hanging out the washing on the Maginot Line.

At which point do the French raise the flag of rebellion against their leadership?

    1. Democrats are so pathetic on the subject, they can't even say the word terrorism at their convention. Meanwhile atrocities happen every day in Europe.

  7. "bitterly divided Republican convention"

A small floor fight over rules and that was it, but I sympathize. The Demos do look like '68.

All they need now is a delegation from IS.

  8. Careful Anonymous, you are setting yourself up for a scolding from the speech police for offending dog lovers, flea lovers, and camel lovers.

  9. Remember in 2012 when the Dems boo'ed God? They haven't changed. This time around they don't even have any American flags onstage- I guess they're all being burned outside.

  10. They are in Philadelphia where they boo Santa Claus.

  11. I see Stephanie R-Blake holding forth trying to calm down the lunatics. Boy she is the right person for the job after quelling the unrest in her city of Baltimore . I also see Donna Brazille out there, who needs to be lassoed by the folks in the white jackets and returned to the village whose idiot has gone missing. What a bunch of knuckleheads. Who will they bring out next, Susan Rice?

  12. The 1924 Democratic Convention, the "Klanbake Convention", refused to add a plank condemning their KKK members, who were present in large numbers. Twenty three days. One hundred three ballots to pick the loser who lost to Coolidge.
