Thank Donald Trump for that admission, because Trump is forcing America to admit it still is at war with a tenacious global enemy. Killing Osama bin Laden did not end this war.
On Sunday, Obama licked his chops and rubbed his hands with glee at the prospect of lecturing America again on gun control laws.
But Trump trumped that. He forced Obama to admit the truth. But Obama was pained.
“Countering this extremist ideology is increasingly going to be just as important as making sure that we are disrupting more extensive plots engineered from the outside.”Yes it was lame. Yes his calling it "homegrown" terrorism was nonsense, because he knew the terrorist had visited Saudi Arabia twice, and the terrorist's father is running for office in Afghanistan. But Americans also know that they no longer are tethered to DC doubletalk about Islamic terrorism because Trump offers the alternative viewpoint called reality.
Oh Obama still shoveled it wide and deep:
“One of the biggest challenges we are going to have is this kind of propaganda and perversions of Islam that you see generated on the internet, and the capacity for that to seep into the minds of troubled individuals, or weak individuals, and seeing them motivated then to take actions against people here in the United States and elsewhere in the world,”But like Reagan in 1980, Trump sits in the wings ready to replace detente with victory. He gave a killer speech in New Hampshire on terrorism and the nincompoopery of this regime.
From the Daily Mail:
Trump castigated the former secretary of state for comments she made in November 2015 during a speech to the Council on Foreign Relations.
'Let's be clear: Islam is not our adversary,' Clinton said then. 'Muslims are peaceful and tolerant people and have nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism.'
'That is Hillary Clinton,' Trump said, hammering her for her response to the weekend's bloodbath at a gay nightclub where more than four dozen people list their lives to a man who pledged allegiance to the ISIS terror army.
'The days of deadly ignorance will end, and they will end soon' if he is elected president, Trump pledged.
Clinton's response on Monday was equal parts gun control and a motherly embrace of America's gays and lesbians.
'She says the solution is to ban guns. They tried that in France,' Trump poked, referring to last year's terror attacks in Paris. 'One hundred thirty people were brutally murdered by Islamic terrorists in cold blood,' he said.
'Her plan is to disarm law-abiding Americans, abolish the Second Amendment and leave only terrorists ... with guns.'
'She wants to take away Americans' guns and then admit the very people who want to slaughter us,' Trump boomed, reading from a teleprompter. He pledged to meet with the National Rifle Association, the powerful lobby that has endorsed him, to 'discuss how to make sure Americans have the means to protect themselves in this age of terror.'Some in the press say he exploits the situation.
If Obama did his job, there would be no situation to exploit.
