Hillary gets the worst advice

Trump held a press conference on Tuesday, showed how he raised $5.6 million for veterans groups, and verbally battered the assembled reporters. He notched up another news cycle. It's what he does.

Hillary meanwhile. Um. Unh. Oh let's see, her lawyers suppressed testimony in one of the ongoing probes of her many, many scandals. It's what she does.

And Darrell West, director of governance studies at the Clinton-friendly Brookings Institution, says her strategy is fine, fine, fine:
“Unlike Trump, she understands the risks of off-the-cuff statements that can come back and haunt you. She wants to make sure she doesn't make mistakes that will give her opponents ammunition against her.”
It also gives the public zero reason to like her.

He fights. She dodges.

From the Washington Times:
Hillary Clinton is 0-for-2016, having failed to hold any full press conferences this year — fueling the perception that she is the most guarded major candidate in recent political history, in stark contrast with presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
Mr. Trump has held at least four full, formal press conferences this year, including one Tuesday, and has fielded questions at length from the flock of reporters covering his campaign on numerous occasions.
Mrs. Clinton took questions from the press traveling with her campaign once, in Minnesota in March, but hasn't held an organized press conference in six months.
“She tries to control media by rationing access. He tries to control media by setting its agenda with provocative posts and tweets that are then the focus of freely given interviews,” said Kathleen Hall Jamieson, director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania who specializes in political communication.
Mrs. Clinton on Tuesday acknowledged that she hasn’t held a press conference in nearly six months but promised that she would conduct one soon. She boasted that she has sat down for nearly 300 arranged interviews this year.
Mr. Trump, who has referred to the press as “scum” and “sleaze,” has shown a surprising willingness to answer questions in a press conference setting. He even holds press conferences almost solely to berate the reporters who cover him.
She controls the press by not getting any coverage.

He controls the press by getting all the coverage.

He's Reagan, she's Mondale. I would rather be him than her right now.

  1. Trump is more like Reagan who just downed a 3x espresso, knocked out 100 pushups, and is holding an AR-15 and is asking "So who's got the next question."

  2. Remember how Willie tried to show his conviction for perjury was bogus, "Mah answers were legally correct".

These people are incapable of learning.

  3. Harry Secombe used to tell a story of how he first met follow Goon Spike Milligan.

They were both in North Africa during the war, serving in the Royal Artillery, fighting to keep Rommel away from the Suez Canal. Secombe was in the back of a truck, Milligan's crew had just dug the pit for their artillery piece. Seems they didn't dig it deep enough, because when they first fired it off : "Hey ... anybody seen the gun?" It came trundling back and apparently missed Secombe's truck by inches.

That artillery piece is Trump. He's leapt out of the recoil pit the clowns opposed to him thought to dig to contain him.

  4. I see WaTimes SAYS she's running, but the lack of press conferences kinda sorta blows that Idea out of the water. Hill does not need to talk to the press; they'll print anything she gives them, no (NO) questions asked.

  5. Imagine how the sleazeball media would whine about a Republican candidate who only gave one interview in 5 months? Hillary gets a pass, as usual.

  7. "He even holds press conferences almost solely to berate the reporters who cover him." A line for the history books!

    1. After 8 years of witnessing Obama's abuse of the press, Trump picked up on the fact that media folk are masochists who get a tremendous thrill out of continually being whipped. The harder the lashes, the more they enjoy it. And of course the more we enjoy it.

  9. My theory is that Hillary has been told she will be the next President. It was decided at Davos. (The November election is just for show.) That is why she doesn't care what she does or says.
