"Clinton seems to fancy herself as the Cher of politics"

Christopher Barron, co-founder of GOProud, a gay group, wrote a piece so good that I was surprised that CNN posted it, "Why the LGBT community should back Trump."

His point is that Trump stood up for gay rights when Hillary did not, and that he will stand up to the Islamic State while Hillary takes money from Saudi Arabia and appeases Iran -- countries that execute gay people fro being gay.

Barron wrote, "For LGBT Americans, this election won't be about bathrooms or who will bake our wedding cakes. No, this election will be about which of the candidates for President is willing to stand up and fight to defend our very right to life itself."

More from Barron:
Before Trump, Republican nominees shied from using the phrase LGBT on the campaign trail. In contrast, Donald Trump more than said the word, he promised action:
"Our nation stands together in solidarity with the members of Orlando's LGBT community. They have been through something that nobody could ever experience. This is a very dark moment in America's history. A radical Islamic terrorist targeted the nightclub, not only because he wanted to kill Americans, but in order to execute gay and lesbian citizens, because of their sexual orientation.
"It's a strike at the heart and soul of who we are as a nation. It's an assault on the ability of free people to live their lives, love who they want, and express their identity. It's an attack on the right of every single American to live in peace and safety in their own country."
Clinton seems to fancy herself as the Cher of politics for LGBT Americans -- an ally, an advocate and an icon. The truth is that she only became an ally of LGBT Americans once it became politically advantageous for her to be one. It's hard not to conclude that her evolution from Defense of Marriage Act supporter to marriage equality advocate had more to do with her ambitions than any deep-seated beliefs.
Unlike Clinton, Trump has a record in the business world of inclusion and support for LGBT Americans. Donald Trump was supporting average LGBT Americans who worked for his companies and patronized his hotels and clubs long before it became trendy to do so.
Republicans in Washington keep saying their party needs to reach out to gay people. Here is a candidate who does, Washington Republicans react by circling their Never Trump wagons.

The purpose of a government is to protect your rights. People don't feel safe. tell me again how this helps Hillary.

  1. I think Hillary is trying to keep "on the down low" about this whole LGBT gobble-de-gook because she has some things in her past that may be - um - somewhat embarrassing. - Elric

  2. a pragmatic approach.

  3. Ask ambassador Chris Stevens about Hilliar's
    postion on Gays-oh wait...

  4. "Republicans in Washington keep saying their party needs to reach out to gay people." But middle America, the Tea Party folks...not so much. Like, vanishingly little.

    1. Huh? A huuuuuge slice of Tea Party folks simply don't want the religious beliefs of others forced upon them, and will quite contentedly ignore others' lifestyle choices. "Just leave us alone" is quite different than "I hate your guts!"

    2. This is about people being murdered.

      No more, no less.

  5. Really, it shouldn't be necessary to accept homosexuality as a normal lifestyle in order to condemn mad murder -- but that seems to be the choice that everyone is presented with.

And the fact is that it's becoming less and less clear that this was an anti -gay execution. Like the Matthew Shepard car, the narrative is burying the truth.

The fact is that there is reason to believe that the murderer himself was gay and that his actions stemmed as much from purely personal revenge motives as they did from his Muslim sympathies.

    1. Corr:. "mass murder" "Matthew Shepard case"

  6. "Clinton seems to fancy herself as the Cher of politics"

Bet Hillary-on-Wheels wishes she could turn back time.

But once she's thrown in the slammer, she's going to get closer to some of the butcher members of the gay community than she ever dreamed of.
