Instead they will be on the streets robbing, raping and killing innocent Americans again.
Hillary Clinton recently apologized for her husband's crime bill, which along with the lifting of restrictions on gun ownership and use, helped drop the national crime rate. Easily a quarter-million lives were saved thanks to the drop in the homicide rate alone.
The liberal Richmond Times-Dispatch reported:
"We benefit from a more just and accountable government when we put trust in all of our citizens to choose their leaders," McAuliffe said Friday from the steps of the state Capitol, where a gospel choir warmed up a jubilant crowd. "It has taken Virginia many centuries, unfortunately, to learn this lesson. But today, we celebrate its truth."
The action, which comes just days after the General Assembly wrapped up the 2016 legislative session, has the potential to expand the state's voter rolls, currently estimated at about 5.4 million, by as much as 3.8 percent.
Virginia is one of 10 states that do not automatically restore rights upon completion of a felony sentence and one of only four states that require an application by the felon and action by the governor, according to the McAuliffe administration, which cited research showing one of every five African-Americans of voting age in Virginia has lost the right to vote.Not until paragraph did the newspaper bother to refer to another side: The rights of Americans to be protected from criminals.
McAuliffe's move is part of a national campaign to stop enforcing laws against street crimes. Liberals have succeeded in gutting the police in inner cities through BLM. And already there is talk of criminal justice reform among Republicans.
This will fail to do anything but increase the crime rate.
In the 1960s, the push to let inmates walk was couched as rehabilitation. Now it is couched as racism.
But it is racist to free criminals as half the murder victims in America are black.
