John Edwards Cruz

The National Enquirer reported Ted Cruz had five mistresses over the years.

Such gossip would not be news except Senator Cruz is running as pastor-in-chief. While certainly we love the sinner, and hate the sin, the holier-than-thou (literally) of Cruz's top supporter, Glenn "No Real Christian Votes For Trump" Beck makes this a scandal.

But who trusts the National Enquirer. It just lies. Just ask John Edwards, who stood by his wife when she had cancer.

From the National Enquirer:
“Private detectives are digging into at least five affairs Ted Cruz supposedly had,” claimed a Washington insider.
“The leaked details are an attempt to destroy what’s left of his White House campaign!”
The ENQUIRER reports that Cruz’s claimed mistresses include a foxy political consultant and a high-placed D.C. attorney!
To be sure, Trump's slate is not clean, either. However, that was a wife ago. And Cruz is on television now lecturing Trump to "leave Heidi the hell alone" and calling Trump a "sniveling coward" for daring to threaten to retaliate for an attack on Trump's wife by Cruz supporters, according to CNN.

The National Enquirer named no names and said in the story only that private detectives are investigating the claim, but given that the tabloid magazine has a better track record than the New York Times on presidential candidate infidelities (the Times erroneously reported John McCain was having an affair) I would say the report about Cruz may have merit.

After all, the National Enquirer broke the story about Saint John Edwards.

  1. I await further developments.

  2. It's been three days since this story broke and no denials or accusations of being "sniveling cowards" from the Cruz camp?

Cruz is toast. I didn't think he could beat Hillary before this story and now all the negatives of having Bill Clinton as your husband are effectively neutralized. Cruz has no chance in hell of beating Hillary now.

  3. There have been several updates to the story through the night.

First, 3 of the women in the article have been IDed on Twitter (again, grain of salt).

Second, there were conversations on Twitter about #TheThing (Cruz' alleged infidelities) from late February on.

Third, it's speculated this is the bombshell Trump warned Cruz about after the Melania ad.

And, finally, it's being speculated this is the real reason Ben Shapiro, a strong Cruz supporter, left Breitbart, which wanted to go with the story.

    Read it in full here.

The Cruz crowd is trying to brazen its way past this as they usually do, but this will be in every supermarket, convenience store, drug store, WalMart, and Target checkout line in the country.

    They can't ignore it.

PS Don, don't forget Gary Hart and that photo of the Monkey Business.

  4. Glad you mentioned the attack on Trump's wife. Almost all stories, including Fox's, have left that out. No one clean on this one. But remember that Trump fights back, hard. Hillary should remember that when she attacks him.

  5. Et tu, Don? Rumor before fact? An I used to respect you.

  6. Did George Soros quietly buy the Enquirer in order to get Hillary elected? Did I miss the announcement?

  7. Actually isn't the Enquirer story an allegation of allegations?

  8. Cuban mistress crisis.
