Gun rights supporter drops Cruz

Jan Morgan is a nationally recognized 2nd Amendment advocate and Associated Press award winning investigative journalist, who now writes opinions.

She supported Cruz early and often.

But after Cruz blamed Trump for the actions of thugs who blocked Trump's rally in Chicago, unh-unh. No more.

Last April, she wrote:
Senator Ted Cruz gets it and in this a brief encounter with a reporter who tried to get him to waffle on background checks due to strong public opinion, he dug in his heels and stood firm.
He, above all other candidates, has not hesitated to take a strong stand in support of gun rights for the American people.
I was on a media panel during one of his first debates in the Senate race.
I grilled him thoroughly on 2nd Amendment issues that night several years ago. He was solid then… and he’s solid now.
This is one of many reasons why, my money and my support are going to Cruz 2016.
Then Cruz said this on Friday night: "When you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discourse."

She dropped him on Saturday. Actions have consequences.

  1. I said yesterday or the day before that Cruz jumped the shark there.

    1. Yep, I like that term. On Tuesday Trump will get two more Florida votes (counting the Mrs.}, and Cruz two fewer. Since joining a gang, Rubio has had no chance with us.

    2. One thing I don't understand is how Rubio gets hung for his Gang of 8 thing (which I blister him for too), but Trump has statements waffling on the Second Amendment, being good with "assault weapon" bans, good with socialized medicine, etc., that came after Rubio's Gof8 debacle, yet all is forgiven. Am I the only one seeing the inconsistency.

  2. I don't blame Trump, I blame his mother. If she had strangled him at birth, none of this would have happened./sarc
OK, I stole the line from Bud Spencer.

    1. If your mother had strangled you at birth I wouldn't have seen your idiotic and hateful post.

The /sarcasm tag is not a free pass to post stupid stuff without being called out for it.

  3. Rowdy political rallies are non-existent when Cruz conducts them - so what does our 2nd amendment have to do with Trump's out-of-control rhetoric and out-of-control security people?

Don Surber used to make full analysis of any situation that he writes about but that has not been so when doing a Trump story. Why is that?

  5. I have been a Cruz supporter, but his spouting MoveOn.Org talking points is making me think.

  6. All candidates will trip over their words occasionally. The beauty of Trump is that he makes so many misstatements he doesn't trip over them, he speed skates on them. - Elric
