Politician uses hook-up app to campaign for votes

This is so wrong, my head hurts.

From the Edmonton Journal:
Edmonton singles looking for love on the dating app Tinder may soon have to worry about swiping left wing or right wing, rather than just saying yay or nay to potential partners.
Nicole Szymanowka, a candidate for the Ward 12 council seat vacated by new Liberal MP Amarjeet Sohi, has taken to Tinder to help stand out in a packed field that now features 29 candidates. The dating app allows users to swipe right to show interest in a person or swipe left to reject them. The user is notified when they get a match.
“I’m trying to get young people more involved and interested,” she said. “There’s a lot of young people to reach on Tinder.”
Szymanowka said she knows Tinder’s reputation as a tawdry hook-up app may convince people she’s not sincere about running, but she said that’s not true. “They can see that I am serious. If people want to take it as a joke, that’s fine, but I’m definitely serious about running in this campaign,” she said.
How's that song go again? Looking for votes in all the wrong places.

But hey, whatever works. In a 29-candidate race, there is no such thing as bad publicity. You go, girl.

  1. Will The Donald take notice of this?

  2. Recruiting voters with dishonorable discharges, I see.
