Speaking of cultural appropriation, keep your mitts off mine

Multicultural diversity succeeded in watering down American culture. We have to accept thug music (rap) alongside Beethoven. Now the left is embracing cultural appropriation, a guilt trip laid on gullible white people.

OK, fair is fair. As a white Christian, I won't eat halal. I won't eat Thai. I'll even give up General Tso, which is something I actually do eat.

Now give me back the polio vaccine. It is part of the Judeo-Christian tradition. It was developed by Jews (there are two vaccines).

Also, give back pasteurized milk.

The automobile.

The airplane.

The train.

Electricity, the Internet, skyscrapers, radio, television, and the cellphone -- or any other kind of phone. Transistors, too.

Jews and Christians have done more positive good for the world than any other group.

Slavery? Don't go there. Slavery pre-dated Christianity and even Judaism. The Indians practiced it long before Columbus arrived, and long after. The only continent that never had slavery was Antarctica.

War? That preceded slavery. How do you think they acquired slaves?

To be sure, the Chinese came up with some good ideas: Paper, printing and gunpowder to name three. But Christians perfected it, and revolutionized the world. And of course, the Arabs gave us algebra. But Christians took it from there.

If Jews and Christians are so evil, why is the migration to our countries?

Don't like cultural appropriation? Then get the hell off the computer.

But stay. We are Jews and Christians. We share.

  1. Every generation "stands on the shoulders of giants." That's the nature of progress. Gutenberg, a European, mechanized printing and revolutionized the making of books; printing was invented by the Chinese and the Koreans. No appropriation means no progress. If the Left objects to "appropriation," they can go back to wearing loin cloths and hunting for their food the way it was done before someone invented something that was then "appropriated" and improved by someone else who then passed it on to his fellow-tribesmen and his descendants.

  2. I have no problem if we abolish "cultural appropriation" within the US so long as all who immigrate here assimilate into American culture.

    1. Then they'd be appropriating our culture, except, of course, we're offering it to them. We WANT them to take it.

  3. Those are nice "things", but the culture they are appropriating from the English-speaking, nee' British, nee' Anglo-Saxon peoples is the concept of individual liberties, private property, equality before the law. Every time they speak or write or come together in assembly without the soldier's sword being thrust through their middle, they are appropriating "White" culture.

But go ahead, appropriate the culture of the English-speaking peoples of all colors. It is the culture that ended slavery as an acceptable condition, that ended villeinage and serfdom, that ended special privilege for special born (at least overt law-wise).

  4. Indians created Algebra, arabs just sold it as their own.

  5. Oh and Indians made up Zero.

The number 0, had a beginning and it wasnt arabs. Though many seem to want to zero out everyone else.

  6. The Arabs only gave us algebra in the sense of naming it, and preserving certain writings about it through the chaos of the decline of Rome - part of which chaos was the fault of the Arab invasions, BTW. The field itself was pioneered by Hellenistic Greeks, notably Hypatia of Alexandria. So there. Oh, and if we're talking about cultural debt to Jews and Christians, how 'bout the big one: monotheism? And a big one that followed from that: rule of law?

Did you just culturally appropriate the Krauts?

  9. Thanx for the books. I look forward to learning about people ypu think are great Americans. I already know a good bit about Norm Borlaug and am amazed he is not a nationally or internationally known hero.

  10. We are very culturally aware, as long as it's not Christian culture. Take the month of November off because of religion? Sure. Refuse to wear the uniform because of religion? Sure. But put on my application that I am not available Sunday (because of religion) and most companies won't even accept the application. Give me the same 'rights' as every other group gets, or don't give them any more rights than I get. Fair is fair and this isn't.

  11. Yeah, give me back Christmas, Easter, Sundays, the legal code. Hell, give me back Justice. But they can keep the Cross. It was earned for all of us. Even them. No, especially them.

  12. Can a white boy sing the blues? Well, the guitar comes from Spain and the harmonica comes from Germany.

BTW, it was a Jew, Abraham Ibn Ezra, who exposed European culture to Al-Khwarizmi's concepts of algebra and algorithm.

    2. You are right. There are few colleges as well without endowed chairs and buildings donated by Jews. I suspect part of their reputation for cheapness comes from their being in an insular community. Their generosity to each other is not noted by us outsiders, so it doesn't exist.
Unfortunately, their American liberalism may undermine this. I gave at the IRS office, I vote D so I've done my share. Libs give less.

  15. Fail.

Don Surber would have been correct if he slammed white leftist SJWs for this 'cultural appropriation' tripe.

Instead, he slams the people who did not create it - the non-Westerners themselves.

I don't think there is any Asian small business that does not want ALL customers.

Eastern cultures are guilty only of not preventing lefty SJWs from speaking on their behalf, without permission.

Sadly, Don Surber took their bait, and made the same mistake conservatives always make when leftists set a new frame - the conservatives accept that frame without realizing it.

  16. In other words, the lefty SJWs had the goal of getting easily-manipulated conservatives to fight with non-Western people, who did not know that lefty SJWs were hijacking them for a politicized narrative.

Sadly, as is always the case with conservatives, Don Surber took the bait, and did exactly what the leftists wanted him to, without realizing it. He is slamming the Asians, etc. who were no part of the lefty narrative. Hence, he was a complete tool of leftists.

This whole episode encapsulates the problem :

    1) Leftists come up with a bogus narrative.
    2) Conservatives react to that, but fail to identify who the real villains are (white SJW lefty women, who conservatives are programmed to worship due to their being female).
    3) The conservative gets mad at someone else, specifically someone else who cannot fight back.
    4) The leftist has succeeded in creating new strife, and in manipulating conservatives without their realizing it.

It is amazing that after 20+ years, conservatives (Don Surber is just one of many), still fail to grasp how easily they fall into the frame leftist set, and thus are baffled as to why the left is always advancing, while conservatives are always ceding ground.

    1. Actually, you fail. Rachel Kuo is not a "white leftist SJW" http://donsurber.blogspot.com/2015/11/multicultural-absurdity.html
And there are plenty of other non-white examples of this.
Your stereotyping a group as all white and then bashing me for it made my day.

    2. The occasional 2nd gen Asian who went to a US university in SJW aside, the other 99% of lefties pushing this narrative are pampered white American females. Especially if the examples they use are Asian.

I just don't see any evidence of immigrant Asians ever leveling the accusation of 'cultural appropriation'. Yet, Don Surber got easily tricked by leftists into attacking those who did not create the narrative (and would oppose it, if they knew it was costing them customers in their restaurants and Yoga studios).

  19. I suppose it hasn't occurred to SJW's that Asian dudes like Mao Ze Dong, Ho Chi Minh, and Pol Pot (not to mention a couple of Cuban amigos going by "Fidel" and "Che") had absolutely no problem culturally appropriating the fevered scribblings of an 19th Century ethnic Jewish German named Karl Marx.

    Funny that, huh?

    1. They didn't "give" it, they shared with those willing to learn. I would give it to everyone in the world, as well as calculus, if I could. It is there for those who want it and many will share the knowledge.
Unfortunately, Arabs give to much to tribalism, pride, honor and ego. Not sharing much with the rest of the world but violence.
