Bill Cosby's arrest hurts Hillary

Bill Cosby's arrest for rape is a political nightmare for Hillary Clinton. Today, Mark Steyn asked; "Why is Bill Cosby finished while Bill Clinton is beloved?"

I'll be blunt. This is what many black people and young college students are asking:
Why was Bill Cosby arrested and Bill Clinton not?
The world has changed in 20 years and Hillary Clinton has not. Her upper class upbringing that sex is dirty and a wife has to put up with a husband's philandering stands in stark contrast with today's assumption that when two people get drunk and have sex, the man is raping the woman.

The Bill Cosby-Bill Clinton is Hillary's own doing. She said she was going to bring in Bill Clinton. On paper, that makes sense, except when one considers that a core market for her is under 30 and most of them know little to nothing about his sexual predation. History marks it down as "he lied about getting a b---j--." But now the details will come to light. Paula Jones getting every dime she demanded of the Clintons for his sexual harassment will open a few under 30 eyes.

As Glenn Harlan Reynolds wrote today (before the arrest):
Even before Trump, people — though, notably, not members of the news media — were already quizzing Hillary Clinton about her record on rape and abuse. After she tweeted that rape accusers should be believed, a woman at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire asked Hillary whether that applied to her husband’s accusers, mentioning Broaddrick, Willey and Jones. Clinton’s awkward reply: "I would say that everybody should be believed at first until they are disbelieved based on evidence."
Neither Republican candidates nor journalists have been willing to make a big issue of Bill’s shady sex-abuse record and Hillary’s enabling. Trump, on the other hand, went there, with devastating effect. Which raises a question: If Hillary can’t win by playing the “woman card,” can she win at all?
The answer is she cannot.

The arrest of Bill Cosby brought this from Mark Steyn: “You’d almost think it’s some kind of like racism thing. That somehow, when a bunch of women make accusations against the black guy – boom, he’s vaporized. When a bunch of women make accusations against some white southern redneck — we're talking about putting him back in the White House for another eight years as first gentleman.”

Of course, that is an oversimplification. But Cosby's arrest for doing what Bill Clinton did may cause black voters to ask why bother going to the polls to elect her.

What Hillary should have done, in retrospect, is announce that she will not have Bill Clinton campaign for her. That she is a tough, independent woman who can handle a presidential campaign on her own.

Instead, we have an old damsel in distress asking the town lecher to save her.

  2. I love Steyn. And as much as I like listening to him I enjoy reading him even more.

Bill Clinton waged the ultimate war on women; must be that deep down the left, and particularly feminists, see being subjugated to a powerful man (rape to sexual harassment) as the natural order of things, because I surely haven't heard any differently. Not only that, he's a convicted liar.

We agree. I couldn't have said it better. Oh, wait, maybe I already did.

Just joking, Don. Not better, but at the same time the same thought. The Donald is going to have a field day poking fun at how Bill always has to come to Hill's rescue whenever she messes up. Now if Bill can only get her to deep-six the tents and curtains and rugs she dresses in, he will have earned her permission to fool around and go off to hustle a few more young babes. The old Clinton marriage bargain between the two of them is still in play, isn't it?

  6. I wonder why Cosby's bail was set at $1 million? If he was going to skip the country to avoid trial he could have done it already given the long lead up to this indictment. I think the Montgomery County prosecutor is playing politics here like Nifong did in NC. Oh, and BTW, Montgomery County PA is a very upper class white suburb where they allow some wealthy coloreds like Cosby to live just to make it look good.

  8. Don, you left out one aspect of the story. Bill Cosby was a widely respected black man who had been criticizing black American culture. He "went off the plantation" and began saying that perhaps the fault isn't just white racism. He had to be destroyed by the progressives. Yes, these allegations should have been looked into long ago but it is funny how they are just now being investigated and publicized.
