If you want to know what most of the media thinks, look no further than -- Rolling Stone. Laugh, scoff, and roll your eyes all you want, but the same media that guffaws at Fox News. bought Rolling Stone's preposterous fairy tale that a woman 1. was gang raped at the University of Virginia, and 2. was not given any help from university administrators.
Rolling Stone may not be the media's bible but it is one of the books in it.
So Rolling Stone's take on Tuesday night's Republican debate matters, and these were the Gang Rape Hoaxing Stone's "23 WTF Moments From the Fox Business GOP Debate,"which is to say the rest of the media that fell for the gang rape hoax.
The first six moments that the Rolling Stone and its followers in the media did not understand:
1. "Welders make more money than philosophers. We need more welders than philosophers." -- Marco Rubio on vocational education.
2. "I don't have to hear from this man." -- Donald Trump on John Kasich.
3. "You should let Jeb speak." -- Donald Trump to John Kasich.
4. "Thank you, Donald, for letting me speak at the debate. That's really nice of you. What a generous man you are." -- Jeb Bush to Donald Trump.
5. "It took the telephone 75 years to reach 100 million users. It took Candy Crush one year to reach 100 million users." -- Marco Rubio.
6. "My mom is here, so I don't think we should be pushing any grannies off any cliffs." --Ted Cruz on Medicare.Republicans saw nothing odd in those quotes. And Republican are the audience for these debates, which the media continually overlooks. The media does not understand what Republicans want, because they dismiss Republicans as incomprehensible whackos.
Let me explain the quotes as I heard them
No. 1 is a fact that liberals ignore: college isn't everything. There are roughly 370,000 welding jobs, and 23,000 philosophy jobs. And while a full-time professor makes more than a welder, most of these are adjunct professorships -- part-time jobs. Toss in a huge student loan at 8% interest, and most people would be better off welding.
No. 2, Kasich was going on and on, and sounding more liberal by the minute. Trump sensed -- correctly -- the audience's boredom and capitalized on it.
No. 3, Trump also sensed Jeb Bush was babbling his way out of the race.
No. 4, Bush is thick as a brick when it comes to presidential campaigning.
No. 5, Rubio was pointing out the speed of change has quickened.
No. 6, Cruz was mocking the Rolling Stone, the media, and their darling Democrats who think they can fool the public into portraying Republicans as evil villains who push granny off the cliff.
The Rolling Stone and its subscribers in the media want to mock Republicans, and considering how the media hounded Sarah Palin and brought her down, it is no wonder they think they can do it again.
I would love to say that most reporters are even handed and reject this, but I cannot lie, I think the number now is 50% at best.
Look where the media comes from to see where it is going. The University of Missouri J-School has enjoyed an excellent reputation throughout my working career. Now we discover one of its "courtesy" professors thinks she must protect black students from white and Asian reporters. Yes, she has apologized and they stripped her of the title (but not the job) but that was only because they got caught.
Some other quotes that the Rolling Stone and its fans in the media cannot comprehend reveal the Group Thinking. Only the dumb would be dumbfounded by the quotes
"The secret sauce of America is innovation and entrepreneurship." -- Carly FiorinaMany in the media do not understand the basics of capitalism. (Anthony Benvin explains why.)
"There are more words in the IRS code than in the Bible." -- Ted CruzMany in the media love the IRS and hate the Bible.
"Five major agencies I would eliminate: the IRS, the Department of Commerce, the Department of Energy, uh, the Department of Commerce and HUD." -- Ted CruzOh no, he said Department of Commerce twice.
"In order to make them look like losers, we have to destroy their caliphate." -Ben Carson on ISISMany in the media who hate the Bible love the Koran, even though they have read neither.
"We shoulda given the oil, we shoulda given big chunks to the people that lost their arms, their legs, and their families and their sons and daughters." -- Donald Trump on wounded warriors.Only Trump is quoted phonetically.
The Republican debates are about the Republican primaries, which means most of the media has no clue what is going on, or what matters. It is like sending hockey reporters to cover a boxing match.
Or a Gang Rape Hoaxing reporter to cover a real story.
