An exceptionally bad Gazette editorial

I mostly have ignored the Charleston Gazette in my retirement but I got bored and read today's editorial. It was another screed against religion as it adheres to the false belief that more people have died in the name of Christ than any other military cause. Wrong. Hitler was an occultist, and Mao and Stalin were atheists.

But the premise of today's tirade was the killing of a woman in Pakistan for being Christian. Incredibly, the Gazette concluded: "When ministers call for believers to commit murder, it's almost predictable that a few extreme zealots will inflict horror that sickens civilized people."

Whoa. Ministers are Christian not Muslim. This is another libel against Christianity by a newspaper that in the past failed to acknowledge Easter.

Oh I know the argument will be they meant a religious leader. But the use of minister instead of imam is a deliberate attempt to excuse Muslim killings as well Christians do the same thing.

They don't.

  2. Also, Mullah.

How's the Gazette's subscriber base holding out, Don? Is it declining, or are they down to true believers alresdy?

    1. I don't know and I don't care. They claim 40,000. Company has been on the decline since the Gazette bought the Daily Mail in 2004.

And the last time a Christian minister or Catholic priest called for the killing of a non-believer? Does the Gazette have a link to something like that? No? Then can the Gazette explain why this sort of killing appears to be way more common, perhaps even unique, among the Muslim faith? Maybe she was---in the words of our Dear Leader---just a random person in the wrong place at the wrong time. When the correlation of such heinous acts to one particular faith is evident, and there are NO known outliers to the contrary, it's time to talk about CAUSATION. Maybe----just maybe---there is something about Islam itself, something entirely NONrandom, that accounts for why its adherents behave the way they do.

  5. Wars with explicitly religious motivations entail roughly 7% of all wars in recorded human history--about half of those are Islamic in motivation.

  6. Don maybe the Gazette hopes to reverse R gains in WVA by groveling for the M vote like the NYT does in NYC. Any Syrians on the horizon for Poca?

    1. No plans for the refugees in two states: Alaska and West Virginia. But hey if those widders are good-looking and them orfins can play b-ball, we might take some in, provided they drink moonshine and eat bacon
