Correcting the press lies about mass shootings

From the U.K. Mirror: “Police said Harper-Mercer was shot dead after he killed 9 people in the 45th mass school shooting in the US this year.”

Liars.

Expletive deleted liars.

This is the first and only mass killing at a school in the United States this year.

Six other shooting, which resulted in a single death, occurred. Two were suicides.

Quit lying.

Columbine happened 16 years ago on April 20, 1999. Two teenagers killed 15 people including themselves.

On March 21, 2005, a teenager killed eight people including himself at Red Lake Senior High School in Minnesota.

On October 2, 2006, a milkman killed six people including himself at West Nickel Mines School in Pennsylvania.

On April 16, 2007, a college student killed 33 people including himself at Virginia Tech.

On February 14, 2008, a college student at Northern Illinois University killed six people, including himself.

On April 2, 2012, a college student at Oikos University in Oakland, California, killed seven students, but has been found to be mentally incompetent to stand trial.

On December 14, 2012, a gunman killed 27 people including himself at Sand Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

On June 7, 2013, a gunman killed five people at Santa Monica College. Police killed him.

On May 23, 2014, a gunman killed seven people including himself near the University of California, Santa Barbara. Two were stabbed to death.

On October 14, 2014, a student killed five people including himself at Marysville Pilchuck High School shooting

And this week, a legal immigrant killed nine people including himself at Umpqua Community College in Oregon.

Ten mass killing rampages at schools in the last 16 years since Columbine. Given that we are five times as large in population as England, France, or Germany, these are tragedies but rare.

Including the four murders and two suicides, this week's tragedy brought the total to 16 killed at colleges and public schools this year.

Chicago has as many murders and suicides on a holiday weekend.

Including people wounded, there have been 16 shooting incidents involving death or injury.

Reports of 142 shooting incidents this year are lies. Flat out lies.

  2. I'm guessing The Mirror is of the same opinions as The Grauniad.
