Media loses the debates

Both political parties are assuming control of their presidential debates, a rebuke of the infotainment questions such as "Coke or Pepsi?" and "By a show of hands, how many of you believe in global warming?" Journalists may not be serious about these debates but voters are.

Reince Priebus the RNC chairman led the way by yanking Republican debates from media control, years after mainstream media moderators treated the 2008 Republican race as a minor after-thought to the Hillary or Obama race. The marathon of 20 debates or so in 2012 did not help Republicans.

Democrats joined Republicans in sanctioning six debates of their own.

I hope Republicans allow local party officials to ask the questions instead of some news star flown in fro Washington, who will ask Washington questions designed to embarrass Republicans. I am sorry but no one cares about global warming in West Virginia except the anti-science wizards at the Gazette. Getting the EPA off or ass and the AFT off our guns matters most.

  1. If the Republicans allow Candy Crowley anywhere near a debate, they deserve to lose. The spectacle of her taking sides was disgusting and Mittens not getting in her face for doing so made him out a wimp. I doubt if Reagan would have put up with that BS. On top of that, she was wrong and when informed of that, said she would do it again anyway. What a "journalist" she is.

  2. No point letting The Devil hisownself ask the questions.

  3. I still wonder what would have happened if Mitt had insisted on waiting for Crowley's handlers to correct her correction. Would have shown some spine and would have forced her to apologize on air. Do the Republicans even have people that coach them on how to interact with the hostile media (besides Gingrich). I'd have John Bolton and John Sununu coach my guy.
