The news media seems to have ignored the vote by 179 House Democrats to close Gitmo -- without a plan to relocate the terrorists held there to another U.S. facility.
The Hill headline read: "House rejects bid to close Gitmo."
Buried in the story was this: "The legislation maintains the current ban against transferring Guantanamo Bay detainees to the U.S. It also prohibits building facilities to house detainees on American soil. Republicans argued that the need for a place to detain suspected terrorists would not go away even if the Guantanamo Bay prison were closed."
Once again, Democrats put partisan, retail politics ahead of national security.
In fact, after a while you wonder whose nation they are securing.
President Obama's administration released this gibberish about Gitmo, repeating the same fallacy that being tough on terrorists somehow encourages others to become terrorists: "operating this facility weakens our national security by draining resources, damaging our relationships with key allies and partners, and emboldening violent extremists."
The only relation this damages is Obama's with the ayatollahs in Iran.
